Thirty years ago, a teenager named Beth was being treated for cancer. Her pediatric oncologist, Dr. Michael Weiner, saw firsthand what families go through during treatment, including financial strain and long stretches of isolation. In 1996, he founded Hope & Heroes to help.

The name of our charity traces back to Beth. The New York Daily News had used the phrase "Hope & Heroes" in a headline about her story, and Dr. Weiner felt it captured what he hoped to build. And here we are, 30 years later, still standing beside families through diagnosis, treatment, and beyond.

This National Cancer Survivors Month, we celebrate Beth and every childhood cancer survivor in the Hope & Heroes community. Their stories inspire everything we do.

Childhood cancer was once a near-certain diagnosis, but decades of research changed that completely.

Today, more kids survive childhood cancer than ever before. But research doesn't stop at survival. Every discovery made in the lab brings us closer to a day when childhood cancer no longer exists.
