š¢As I share this article and the Celebration of Life information for Adeline Alfred, my heart is deeply heavy.
Her tragic death is heartbreaking, and it is also a sobering reminder that domestic violence is real, dangerous, and too often hidden behind silence, fear, and the pressure to keep up appearances.
I want to speak plainly and lovingly to every woman who may be suffering in an abusive situation: please speak up. There is no shame in asking for help. There is no shame in choosing safety. There is no shame in walking away from something or someone hurting you. Love should not hurt, and suffering in silence can be deadly. God did not create you to live in fear, abuse, or torment. Your life has value, your voice matters, and you deserve safety, dignity, and care.
I have personally helped women facing domestic violence, and I know how difficult it can be to come forward. However, I also know that your present circumstances do not define your future. There is life, healing, and restoration on the other side of abuse. Help is available, and if the first person you speak to makes you feel judged, please do not stop there. Reach out again. Find someone who will stand with you, pray with you, support you, and help you find safety.
To our New Jersey and surrounding community, Adeline has no family here in the United States. Let us not allow her to be mourned alone. Let us come together to show love, dignity, prayer, and support as she is laid to rest. I encourage those who are able to come out and stand in compassion and solidarity.
If you or someone you know needs help, the New Jersey Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-572-SAFE (7233). If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
May Adeline rest in peace, and may her life and passing stir us all to greater compassion, courage, and action. Her life mattered.
