In honor of domestic violence awareness month we would like to emphasize how this impacts many of the women and children we serve. Our Going Home program helps them reunite with loved ones who can offer them a safe place to land.

If you or someone you know feels unsafe, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233. 💜💚

Last week, we were able to prepare and distribute around 1,500 meals to local shelters and organizations that serve people experiencing homelessness. Huge thank you to Mike’s Amazing for donating all of the food—fried shrimp, gumbo, boudin balls, red beans, and other New Orleans staples! And thank you to all the folks who made this possible — NOLA Funk Fest staff for cooking, to our Grace volunteers for packaging the meals, & to Maple Leaf Bar for hosting!

A big part of bridging the gap between the housed and unhoused requires confronting the unfair stereotypes that are often associated with people experiencing homelessness.

Homelessness is a systemic issue, not an individual one. Asking questions and staying informed on the current state of homelessness is the first step toward enacting real change.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting a volunteer group from Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. These folks were incredibly attentive and kind to our unhoused guests at breakfast and made the morning that much more meaningful. They also helped us hand out MREs outside the dining room!

Thank you to the Trinity folks for all of the compassion and care you showed during your time volunteering, and for your generosity in donating to our Meals With Love program! We hope to see you again next year. 💚

Hey everyone! Our partners at Travelers Aid Society are in need of clothing donations for their event next Friday.

If you have any items you'd like to donate, reach out to them. We appreciate your support!💚

🧥🥫 WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR WORLD HOMELESS DAY! 🥫🧥

Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans is preparing to welcome approximately 300 of our unhoused neighbors for World Homeless Day, and we need the community’s help to make sure everyone who attends feels supported, cared for and seen.

Our greatest needs right now are:
👕 New or gently used clothing
👖 Pants, shirts and other everyday clothing
🧦 Socks and undergarments
🥫 Nonperishable food items
🧴 Hygiene and personal care items

Every donation matters. A bag of clothing, a box of canned goods or a collection organized by your church, business, school or neighborhood can make a meaningful difference.

Thank you so much to Big Fish Ministries, who traveled from Foley, Alabama to help us serve breakfast to around 200 New Orleanians experiencing homelessness.

The selflessness of our volunteers allow us to do what we do best - providing basic needs and showing compassion to all of our neighbors. This group from Big Fish Ministries was the perfect example, and we’re very grateful to have hosted them.
