Bye-bye, Miss American Pie! 🎶

This little guy is ready to drive his Chevy to the levee and straight into your heart!

Chevy Levee may only weigh 6 pounds, but he's already proven he's one tough little survivor. As the sole survivor of his litter, Chevy has overcome more than any puppy should.

And now? He's ready for the good life. ❤️

Chevy is fun, playful, energetic, and packed with personality! He loves fetch, walks, backyard adventures, and spending time with his favorite humans.

But this pint-sized gentleman does have some terms and conditions.

Chevy is extremely possessive of his person during lap time. If someone approaches while he's enjoying his VIP seating, he needs to be put down and given space before anyone comes closer.

Apparently, lap access is an exclusive membership. 😂

Because of this, Chevy needs to be the only pet in a home without children under 10. Older, dog-savvy kids may be considered if they understand and respect his boundaries.

With the right family, Chevy will have everything he needs to thrive: attention, playtime, structure, affection, and a person who understands his little quirks.

And because every great adventure deserves a souvenir, Chevy's favorite fox toy will be coming along to his forever home. 🦊❤️

He's survived the hard part.

🐾🤎 Meet Bodhi: Enlightenment With a Beard 🤎🐾

Bodhi appears to have attained enlightenment, although his interpretation of Buddhism is extremely touch-based.

Bodhi means awakening or enlightenment, and this magnificent shaggy creature has distilled existence to its purest form:

Be nice to everybody.

Stay near the people.

Acquire pets whenever possible.

Desire allegedly causes suffering. Bodhi has reviewed this doctrine and respectfully submits that not receiving enough attention causes significantly more. 😂

He is an absolute love. Gentle, affectionate, spectacularly sweet with everyone he meets, and profoundly invested in human companionship.

Bodhi doesn't merely enjoy attention. He receives it with the solemnity of a sacred rite and then looks at you when you stop as though your spiritual development has taken an unfortunate turn.

Visually, he is transcendent nonsense.

Long legs. Enormous nose. Magnificent beard.

The general appearance of a Muppet who disappeared into the Himalayas and returned with inner peace and absolutely no explanation for the chin situation. 😂

And yes, Bodhi knows his name and has recall, which is both impressive and mildly inconvenient because we briefly considered renaming him after a Danish philosopher.

Bodhi said no.

Apparently enlightenment includes brand recognition.

He is sweet. He is good. He is gloriously scruffy.

He loves people with his whole ridiculous being.

You could spend years searching for inner peace.

Or Bodhi could hear his name, come running, and sit directly on it. 🤎🐾

1½ years old • 20 lbs • Border Terrier/Dachshund Mix

Jude is a Border Terrier/Dachshund mix, at least on his mama's side. Dad apparently chose anonymity, leaving behind possible notes of Coonhound, Lab, Cattle Dog, and the sort of genetic ambiguity that makes DNA tests earn their money.

Take a sad dog and make him better?

Jude has already begun.

And yes, we know. Hey Jude.

There was absolutely no possibility we were going to behave normally about this. 😂

Jude is gentle, kid friendly, sweet, and initially a little shy. He doesn't immediately fling himself at strangers with reckless interpersonal confidence.

Give him a minute.

Don't be afraid.

Once he realizes you're safe, his whole demeanor begins to soften, the tail joins the conversation, and suddenly this cautious little dude is soliciting belly rubs and looking at you with increasingly suspicious amounts of devotion. ❤️

Jude recently left the noise and uncertainty of a rural shelter behind and is discovering that life can contain quiet mornings, soft furniture, kind humans, and significantly fewer reasons to worry.

At 20 pounds, he's also exquisitely portable: substantial enough for adventures, compact enough to occupy the precise section of couch you were planning to use.

Jude doesn't need someone who expects instant confidence.

He needs someone who understands that a little patience can produce an absolutely disproportionate amount of Jude.

So, Hey Jude, don't make it bad.

Take this sweet little weirdo into your heart.

Then you can start to make it better. 🎶💙🐾

Rescue doesn’t always mean happy endings. Today, our hearts are broken for Maverick. 💔

Eight years ago, Maverick was adopted from Take Paws Rescue as a tiny, 6-week-old puppy. We thought he had found his forever home. But eight years later, that family abandoned him at a shelter.

When we got the call, we went to get our boy. Because whether it’s eight years, eight months, or eight days, once a Take Paws dog, always a Take Paws dog.

Maverick came back to us struggling to walk. Some days were better than others, but we knew something was terribly wrong. Today, we learned he had pneumonia, bladder stones, and what his veterinarian strongly suspected was a bone tumor in his hip. Given his condition, his veterinarian recommended helping him cross the Rainbow Bridge peacefully. 🌈

And then, in the middle of so much heartbreak, something beautiful happened.

Two wonderful people had welcomed Maverick into their home as fosters. They gave him comfort, patience, and love when he needed it most. When they learned his time was running out, they made an extraordinary decision.

They adopted him. ❤️

Not because they expected years together, but because they wanted Maverick to leave this world with a mom and dad of his very own.

When it was time to say goodbye, they both left work to be by his side.

They couldn’t give him more time. But they could give him forever, even if forever was only a little while.

Maverick was ours at six weeks old. He was ours when he returned eight years later. And he was ours until his very last breath.

This is the heartbreaking side of rescue. Sometimes, despite everything we do, the greatest act of love is knowing when to let go.

We wish we could have rewritten Maverick’s ending. But we take comfort knowing he didn’t leave this world alone or unwanted. He left as someone’s beloved boy, surrounded by love.

Please keep his incredible mom and dad and our Take Paws family in your thoughts and prayers.

Rest easy, sweet Maverick. You deserved so much more time.

💕🐾 Meet Katy: Shockingly Qualified, Chronically Underestimated 🐾💕

Katy has somehow remained overlooked despite presenting an almost suspiciously strong case for herself.

House trained? Yep.

Crate trained? Absolutely.

Beautiful on leash? She understood the assignment.

Car rides? Katy is seated and ready for departure. 😂

At home, she has excellent manners, leaves your belongings intact, and would mostly like to know whether the evening agenda includes snuggling.

Katy loves kids and does well with easygoing dogs, especially males. Bossy female dogs are not really her ministry, and cats are frankly too much lore for Katy.

She has reviewed them and would prefer not to participate.

Her greatest extravagance?

Affection. ❤️

Katy smiles, cuddles, rides sh***un, and has the deeply underrated talent of making ordinary Tuesday-night existence feel considerably less basic.

She's the kind of dog who already knows how to be part of a family. No elaborate training montage required. Just a comfortable place to land and people who appreciate a wonderfully well-mannered companion.

And yet, she's been overlooked for a baffling amount of time.

Katy is not asking to go viral.

She would simply like to go home. 🥹💕🐾

Daisy Sue is a black-and-white beauty who is already stealing hearts everywhere she goes. ❤️

With her soft ears, bright eyes, and a tail that never stops wagging, this little lady is everything you could want in a happy, playful puppy.

And Daisy Sue has one very important requirement:

ATTENTION. 😂

She absolutely LOVES being loved. Pets, cuddles, praise, or simply being included in whatever her people are doing—Daisy Sue would like to participate in all of it.

She's also dog friendly and enjoys romping around with her canine companions.

Occasionally, she may even take it upon herself to supervise the other dogs.

Somebody has to be in charge of recreational activities, and Daisy Sue has graciously volunteered. 😂

Once playtime is over, she's more than happy to crash for a well-deserved puppy nap.

At just eight months old, Daisy Sue is still learning about the world one paw at a time. She'll need a family ready for all the training, consistency, patience, and wonderfully chaotic moments that come with raising a puppy.

In return, she'll bring plenty of laughter, affection, puppy kisses, and a lifetime of love.

Daisy Sue isn't asking for much.

Just a family who will spoil her, cherish her, and make her part of everything.

And preferably tell her she's a very good girl approximately 47 times a day. 🌼💕🐾

Born April 2026 • ~25 lbs • Professional Lovebug

We have an updated prognosis on everyone's favorite little doctor, and we're pleased to report that he remains one of the happiest puppies around. ❤️

Dr. Beeper came from a situation with far too many dogs and not nearly enough individual human attention.

But once he discovered what he'd been missing?

PEOPLE. ARE. AMAZING. 😂

He wants pets. He wants cuddles. He wants you to tell him he's handsome. He wants to participate in whatever you're doing.

Basically, Dr. Beeper wakes up every morning absolutely thrilled that humans still exist.

And while he's growing beautifully, there's still one little puppy feature he's working on…

His excitable tinkles. 💦😂

Sometimes Dr. Beeper gets SO happy to see you that his bladder gets just as excited as the rest of him.

He's still a baby and learning to control those happy little accidents, so his future family will need patience and consistency while he figures it out.

Considering where this puppy started, we'll happily take a boy whose biggest problem is occasionally being too excited about being loved. 🥹❤️

🩺 **UPDATED MEDICAL CHART:**

**Diagnosis:** Chronic happiness with a severe case of lovebug.

**Minor complication:** Excitement occasionally exceeds bladder capacity.

**Recommended treatment:** One forever home, patient humans, unlimited cuddles, and a lifetime prescription for affection.

Dr. Beeper is officially accepting new patients.

Although we're pretty sure you're the one who's going to fall in love. 🩺💙🐾

🧸🐾 Meet Cozy! 🐾🧸

1.5 years old • ~55 lbs • Professional Cuddle Companion

Cozy is exactly what his name promises—soft-hearted, sweet, and impossible not to love. ❤️

With his adorable blocky head and gentle nature, he's the kind of dog people fall for instantly. And it's no surprise he's already become a favorite among those caring for him!

Cozy was recently found wandering as a stray for several days before a previous Take Paws adopter stepped in to rescue him.

And from the moment he was safe?

This boy leaned right into the love. 🥹

Cozy is affectionate, trusting, and incredibly gentle. He loves people, especially kids, and gets along well with other dogs.

He's also housetrained, because apparently this handsome gentleman arrived with some excellent domestic credentials already installed. 😂

Cozy is still working on gaining a few healthy pounds, but with good meals and proper care, he's already making progress.

He's also heartworm positive and currently undergoing treatment, which Take Paws Rescue will fully cover.

Mostly, Cozy just wants to be near his people.

A soft bed. A loving family. A few good meals. Someone to lean against when the day is done.

After spending days wandering alone, he's more than ready to discover what it feels like to belong somewhere permanently.

Cozy doesn't need anything extravagant.

He just needs a home as warm and loving as he is.

And with a name like Cozy, we think that's only fair. 🧸💛🐾
