We are an eclectic group of people with backgrounds ranging from business to engineering, but we are united in our passion to play and promote outdoor volleyball. In working closely with The Friends of Lafitte Corridor, the Mid-City Neighborhood Organization and those committed to making this exciting project a reality, the aim of the newly established Mid-City Volleyball Group is to build and ope
rate a small outdoor volleyball venue in Mid-City New Orleans. John would be situated approximately halfway along the 3-mile Lafitte Corridor bike path, drawing people from the Lafitte/Treme, Mid-City and Lakeview neighborhoods. It would be at the intersection of two bike paths and would be a focal point of activity, providing a safe destination for nighttime and weekend recreation. The Mid-City beach volleyball venue will enhance our area by providing a fun place to be active, to socialize, a restaurant open to all, draw in a diverse group of people with similar interests and provide a previously unavailable opportunity for our youth to participate in a challenging and rewarding team sport. What we need is:
Enthusiastic volleyball players! All are welcome - you're never too young or too old
Community support – backing of residents, businesses and local government
Individuals willing to volunteer and aid in our efforts – community activists, entrepreneurs, realtors, engineers, volleyball coaches and others are welcome
Funding - let us know if you’d like to donate or become a sponsor or help write a grant
