💙 Stronger communities start with collaboration. We were proud to welcome leaders from the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Exchange and Development Series (LEADS) to Southeast Louisiana. Through the LEADS experience, business and community leaders visit other regions to explore innovative approaches to economic development, workforce development, housing, transportation, and quality of life. Our team shared insights on building community resilience before, during, and after disasters, as well as the role housing stability plays in helping families build financial security. When communities share ideas, experiences, and solutions, we create opportunities for lasting change.

🎃 Halloween is often a time for treats, traditions, and fun. But for families struggling to afford the basics, even small seasonal extras like candy and classroom party supplies can squeeze an already tight budget.

According to the latest available United For ALICE data, 49% of children in Louisiana live in households that are either in poverty or ALICE – with income above the poverty level but less than the cost of basics. And many of the workers who help make Halloween happen are ALICE themselves.

The good news? A little kindness can go a long way.

Refresh the space by preparing a fence for a new mural, organizing and decorating interior spaces, and weeding and landscaping.

Thank you to the local business owners and leaders who joined us for our Small Business Resiliency Workshop.

Together with Verizon, New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana, we explored practical ways to protect employees, finances, and operations, develop business continuity plans, and connect businesses with resources to prepare for the unexpected.

When our businesses are better prepared to weather challenges and recover stronger, our entire community benefits. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the workshop a success.
