We’re proud to announce that *Don’t Stand Alone: Black Labor Organizing in New Orleans* is moving to the historic TEP Center in the Lower 9th Ward for the rest of the year. Most recently on display in UNO’s Library, this exhibit highlights the historic fights and wins led by Black organizers in our city’s labor movement.

Join us June 1st from 5:30-7 PM at 5909 St. Claude Ave to celebrate the exhibit’s new home and the accompanying exhibit book - now available! 📚

Refreshments provided. Come learn, reflect, celebrate, and be in community with the people carrying these struggles forward today.

Huge thanks to the NOWCRJ members who helped move and put up the exhibit at the TEP Center.

Hope to see you there!

GIVE NOLA DAY EARLY GIVING STARTS TODAY!

At the New Orleans Workers’ Center for Racial Justice, we believe real change happens when workers lead. For 19 years, we’ve been a home for Black and immigrant workers who refuse to accept exploitation as normal.

Your donation supports our Warrant Clinic, which clears municipal warrants, traffic tickets, and fines that trap New Orleanians in cycles of debt and criminalization, restoring their ability to work, drive, and move forward. It powers our “We Are Not Disposable” campaign, which fights for Mardi Gras cleanup, gig, and hospitality workers who keep this city running. And it fuels the everyday organizing that builds power across race, language, and background.

Every dollar helps us build a stronger movement for labor justice in New Orleans. Donate $50 or more to receive a copy of our book “Don’t Stand Alone” on Black labor organizing in New Orleans! Free shipping to the mainland 48 states!

Donate now through May 5th by clicking the link in our bio!

Thank you to everyone standing with New Orleans workers. Let’s keep building!

Since before the 2026 Legislative Session opened on March 9, we’ve been tracking bills - both ones we support and ones we oppose - as they’ve started to be heard in Senate and House committees.

The big issues we’re supporting in session this year include:

1) making transportation to a job easier for our working class in the state, many of whom have barriers to regaining their driver’s licenses due to enormous insurance cancellation fees that are unrelated to whether they are good drivers and only reflect that they couldn’t afford car insurance in the first place. Many bills related to this broader issue were heard in House Transportation Committee on Monday.

2) increasing worker protections and power through a state minimum wage increase and improved worker safety in some workplaces.

3) preventing further discrimination against immigrant residents whether through potential disenfranchisement (if they are naturalized citizens) or removal of services they are eligible to receive.

We’ll continue to post with bills that are coming up, what happened to them and where they are in the political process.

For more information on bills in front of the legislature that might affect our communities, see the Power Coalition Bill Tracker.
