Ubuntu Village NOLA

Ubuntu Village NOLA Building a village where every child & family has the resources & support they need to thrive.

Ubuntu Village fights for social, economic, and transformational justice for children and communities. We work primarily with families of youth who are involved in the juvenile justice system. We help families advocate for their rights and those of their children by educating them and helping them navigate the juvenile system. At Ubuntu, we believe that those directly affected by incarceration sho

uld be at the forefront of efforts to reform the system. We work with parents and young people to conduct participatory action research, analyze inequities in the juvenile justice system, and advocate for changes that would make the system more humane, antiracist, rehabilitative, and just. In all our programming, we prioritize providing immediate economic opportunities to participants and families as well as developing strategies for long-term economic sustainability.

Thank you to everyone who came out for an hour of power!
Last Wednesday we were able to hear from the residents of Algiers in an ongoing effort to address the safety concerns of their neighborhood . With the help of our partners we were also able to provide essential resources to the community.

Thank you to the amazing team for preparing and supplying pizzas for the event.

Give Nola Day is tomorrow Tuesday, May 5th!

Transforming community safety takes a collective approach which is why we chose Ubuntu to be the center of our philosophy. Translating to 'I Am Because We Are' Ubuntu reminds us that we are all connected and when we lead with empathy and compassion we can heal ourselves and our community.

Each and every contribution supports us in assisting youth and their families access the resources to create the thriving communities we all deserve.
