Eden Centers for Hope and Healing is a movement to eradicate the trafficking and selling of human beings.

We empower women to transform their lives through the healing power of life in community. Eden House does this by providing a safe home, coordinating recovery services, and through advocacy, outreach, education, and love. Eden House is a long-term residential program for women who have been commercially and sexually exploited. Eden House provides a holistic approach to recovery that includes outreach, housing, food, mental and physical health care, job training, education, legal services, and spiritual support, as well as public policy support, advocacy services, and education. Thanks to considerable community support and enthusiasm, Eden House opened its doors to its first residents in fall of 2012 and has since housed over 45 residents, and has reached and assisted over 250 women through outreach, services, and referrals.

My name is Marisa Gekosky, and I am the development intern this semester at Eden Centers. I am currently a senior at Tulane University, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Entrepreneurial Business and English. After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in public service, specifically in nonprofit management, and am currently working toward my Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification. In my free time, I enjoy painting, surfing, and reading outside. I am incredibly excited and honored to be working with Eden Centers and contributing to their mission of ending human trafficking while providing a lifelong system of support for survivors!

We can't do this work alone. Every survivor who walks through our doors needs a community behind her, and that's where you come in.

We're looking for volunteers to help with mentorship, life skills workshops, transportation, home setup for new residents, and day-to-day support around our centers. No special skills required, just time and a willingness to show up.

The first hours after escape are the most fragile. Without somewhere safe to go, many survivors have no option but to return to their trafficker.

That's why our Emergency Shelter exists. It's first-stage crisis housing for up to 90 days, giving survivors immediate safety and access to trauma therapy, medical and dental care, legal assistance, substance abuse treatment, job training, and more, all at $0 cost.

This summer our CEO, Jenn, and CCO, Stephanie, attended the World Without Exploitation Conference in Washington, DC! The conference focused on survivor-centered justice through legal, policy, and advocacy strategies.

Our staff participated in breakout sessions, interactive workshops, and networking receptions with other professionals who are also dedicated to ending exploitation.

We are always grateful for opportunities like this to learn from leaders in the field and bring back new strategies and practices to better serve our survivors.
