New Orleans’ largest low-barrier shelter is staying open, but it may move into the Temporary Detention Center on Perdido St.
The current building has water outages, broken elevators, and repairs that would cost millions. Before any move, the jail’s new mental health wing has to open, FEMA has to sign off, and the city has to find renovation funding.

A shelter keeps people alive. A home ends homelessness. Tell the City Council to fund the shelter and invest in permanent housing before the Dec. 1 budget deadline.
