Are y'all ready for another super cute T-Shirt? We call this one "Crawfish Season"!

This t-shirt design was donated by Srimoyee Handmade. All her work celebrates wildlife and cats, and each sale supports animal rescue organizations like ours! She donates a portion of her sales to us quarterly, and has been doing so for years!

When we reached out to artists asking them to donate their talent to help us raise money for Trap Dat Cat, she didn't hesitate!

And here's another super sweet fact about this particular design. The cats at the crawfish table are Marjie and Sabrina, who belong to our very own local cat content creator Nola Neighborhood Cats! And Marjie was actually a kitten we rescued and adopted out to her!

Get your "Crawfish Season" t-shirts and merchandise today and help support our continued rescue and TNR efforts!

Kitten season is in full swing. Shelters and rescues are already full. But the calls keep coming. Our only option at this point is to spay momma cat and then put her and her kittens back on the street. Once the kittens are older we will go back to spay/neuter them.

It's not what we want to do. It's what we have to do. We are out of options.

How can you help? Come borrow some traps from us. We'll give you a trapping lesson. Trap the stray cats in your neighborhood and bring them to us to get them spayed and neutered so no more kittens are born on the street.

You can also apply to be a foster for some of these kittens. If you foster some kittens, space opens up at the rescues and shelters for more kittens to be taken off the streets. Reach out to Tomato Foster Club, Zeus' Rescues, Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO), The Louisiana SPCA, or Big Easy Animal Rescue & Pet Shop to foster some kittens!

Or you can adopt! If you have been thinking about adopting, now is the time! Apply to adopt with us or any of the great rescues listed above!

Sadly, we had no adoptions for April. I can't believe Bernard is still with us! He is patiently waiting for his forever home! How can you resist this guy?

He is about 6 months old. Has been living as a solo kitten but we would love for him to have a kitty friend.

Apply to adopt Bernard today!

Unbelievable. We are still in shock after seeing the numbers this morning from Give Nola Day. We did it! We hit our goal! We SURPASSED our goal! And we won $12,500 in prize money!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. To every person who donated, promoted us, shared our posts, and harassed their friends and family to donate. To our volunteers who compiled email lists and signed up for donation times in the middle of the night. And to Nita who sent a personal text message to everyone she has ever helped in the city. Y'all, that's A LOT of text messages.

This money means so much to us. With the donations and prize money, that's like half our budget for the year. And it represents hundreds of cats that we can help.

But more than that, it represents the fact that people in this city really care about community cats. There is a huge need for TNR, and yesterday showed us we are not alone in this work. There is a community behind us that believes in what we do and stands behind these cats just as strongly as we do.

Thank you again. We are beyond grateful - and we are getting right back to work!

Look what you have done!!!!

A little grassroots organization with the support of their community can accomplish amazing things! Thank you so much!!!

We have made our goal. Is it too much to ask that we also place first place for prizes??? An extra $15,000 in prize money would go a long way! We are in first place for unique donors so far, but second place in amount donated. Can we do it? Let's see!

You have until midnight tonight to make your donation.

Today is Give Nola Day! I hope over the past few days you have seen our posts highlighting what we do. TNR, caring for community cats, helping sick and injured cats, saving kittens... and we do it all on a volunteer basis.

We don't have any grants. We don't have any matching donations. All we have is you. But that's all we have ever needed. Because one person can make a difference. Your donation, even just $10, can make a difference.

Please donate today for Give Nola. Help us reach our goal, and hopefully win some prize money too!

Kittens. We find them everywhere.

Stuck in drainage pipes. Thrown from bridges. Hiding inside car engines. Abandoned under houses. Discarded under dumpsters. Terrified on the side of a busy street. Hoarded. Left to die.

This is probably the hardest part of rescue. They are just babies. Terrified. Starving. Covered in fleas. Sick. Fighting to survive.

Each one of these kittens were found in exactly those circumstances. Lucky for them, we were there to help. Lucky for them, they now are thriving in loving homes.

But they aren't all that lucky. 75% of kittens born outside will suffer and die before they reach their first birthday. No one will be there to help them.

That's why TNR is so important. It prevents the suffering before it even happens. That's why we are so passionate about it. That's why we can't stop.

Give Nola Day is tomorrow. Please help us help them. We can't do it without you.

Animal rescue is hard work, and the emotional toll is high. So many days we see the worst of the worst. We struggle with making the decision between what we want to do, and what we have to do. It's a balancing act between preserving resources and preserving our sanity.

Illness and injury in community cats is often ignored. You hear words like "the greater good" and "limited resources" tossed around to explain why humane euthanasia is a better option. And I'm not entirely disagreeing. Should we spend a couple thousand dollars on one cat when we could TNR 30-40 cats with that money? Probably not. But if we aren't here to help when we can, why are we even here?

So when we are able to help a community cat with life-threatening injuries, and we see that cat through, whether it's back to its colony or adopted into a forever home, it's the absolute best feeling ever. When you feel like you are drowning in misery, it's an outstretched hand pulling you ashore. This is why we do it. This is why we show up every day.

We can only do this with your help. Your Give Nola Day donation will help us throughout the coming year. It will absolutely change the lives of community cats. And it will absolutely ease the emotional burden of having to choose humane euthanasia simply because we don't have the money to help.

This post is dedicated to Robert Mitchum. Sometimes no matter how hard you try, it's not enough. But knowing you did everything you could, that's something you can't put a price on.
