It’s always a great day when our city leaders take a moment to chat, share some high-fives, and check in on what our kids are up to this summer.

Extra, extra... read all about it! 📰✨ Last Friday, the New Haven community showed out massively for LEAP’s 26th Annual Read-In!

From high-energy LEAP cheers to cozy reading circles, it was an unforgettable morning celebrating the power of literacy, joy, and opportunity with our LEAPers. 📚❤️

We were so honored to be joined by our incredible volunteers, dedicated staff, and amazing state and city leaders—including Governor Lamont, Senator Blumenthal, Congresswoman DeLauro, Mayor Elicker, Senator Winfield, Representative Paolillo, and Superintendent Dr. Negrón—who all stepped up to show our youth that New Haven has their back.

Thank you to everyone who picked up a book, shared a story, and brought the energy for our kids!

A huge thank you to DiMeo for helping our LEAP Garden continue to grow and thrive! 🌱

Thanks to their hard work, our raised garden beds have been rebuilt and are ready for a new season of vegetables grown by LEAP students and members of New Haven's Master Gardener Club. The garden is also home to butterfly bushes and pollinator-friendly plants that help attract bees and other essential insects, creating a healthier ecosystem for everyone.

DiMeo also installed additional shade over our pergola, making it a more comfortable outdoor classroom where students can learn about composting, the water cycle, plant science, harvesting, and other valuable gardening skills.

The LEAP Garden is more than just a place to grow —it's a hands-on learning space where young people connect with nature, science, and their community. We are grateful to DiMeo for helping make these experiences possible.

This summer, LEAP is gearing up to welcome nearly 1,000 children to our completely free summer camp! Our kids will be diving into all sorts of incredible educational and recreational activities—from literacy and athletics to creative arts.
