Meet Tagan Engel, the 2026 Good Food Awardee for Community Building and Cultural Exchange through Food 🎉
Tagan Engel has over thirty years of experience in regenerative food systems, food and land justice work, and community-driven social change. As a skilled connector, Engel supports communities and sectors to build relationships and understanding for greater collective impact. She has worked as a chef, community organizer, sustainable farming procurement specialist, entrepreneur, educator, policy maker, urban farmer, radio journalist and more. She previously served as Community Food Systems Coordinator at CitySeed and, in this role, was instrumental in the establishment of the New Haven Food Policy Council and initial plans for a New Haven food system hub. She now serves as Resident Fellow at the Yale Center for Business and the Environment, Producer at The Table Underground radio show and podcast, and she is a generous volunteer and invaluable mentor and advisor to CitySeed-affiliated food ventures and staff. As a first-generation American, born and raised in New Haven, and the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors, Engel’s commitment to collective liberation extends to all humans and beings.
Celebrate Tagan Engel and more leaders, champions, and innovators at the Good Food Awards this Thursday! Tickets and more at cityseed.org/goodfood
