We’re excited to welcome Wendy S. Rogers, FAIA, LEED AP BD+C, as a keynote speaker at the 2026 AIA Tennessee Conference on Architecture on Thursday, August 13th.

Wendy is President of and a nationally recognized leader in sustainable design. Throughout her career, she has championed an integrated approach to architecture that brings together design excellence, environmental stewardship, and measurable building performance. Her work demonstrates how thoughtful design can create healthier, more resilient places while delivering lasting value for clients and communities.

We recently asked Wendy:
"Design often requires balancing competing priorities. What is a tension in your work that you continue to wrestle with, and what has it taught you as a designer?"

"The tension I continue to challenge is the belief that sustainability costs more. In my experience, that's often an excuse for not designing well enough. A sustainable mindset doesn't ask, 'What additional features can we afford?' It asks, 'How can every design decision contribute to better performance?' When sustainability becomes a design principle rather than an add-on, teams make smarter decisions, eliminate waste, and create buildings that perform better for people, the environment, and the client."

Join us this August to hear Wendy share her insights on sustainable design, integrated practice, and creating architecture that performs for generations.
