🧸 Save the date for our Middle Tennessee Assistive Technology Toy Adaptation Event!

Join The STAR Center in Nashville on Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for an opportunity to learn how adapting toys can make play more accessible for children with differing abilities.

Families can enjoy educational sessions, pick up previously adapted toys, and bring their own toys to be adapted. It's a wonderful opportunity to explore how assistive technology can help children engage in play in ways that work for them.

United Rocks is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through inclusive climbing experiences. Their program partners with climbing gyms to create a safe, supportive, and uplifting environment where individuals of all abilities can build confidence, strength, independence, and meaningful friendships.
Weekly climbing practices are at The Crag on Sundays, from 11:30am-1:30pm. Practices will be held all year long on Sundays, except for the third Sunday of each month. Whether you would like to join them as a climber or a volunteer, come experience the joy and empowerment of climbing. Ages 5 and up

You'll learn to use BluePath, a comprehensive platform that helps people with disabilities make informed choices and supports businesses as they create more inclusive spaces. As we build toward the 2034 Special Olympics USA Games, your assessments become the roadmap for transformation.
The training is straightforward. The impact is profound. You'll learn accessibility assessment skills, work directly with Nashville businesses, and contribute to systemic change. Whether you assess your favorite coffee shop or lead corporate volunteer teams, you're building a Nashville where everyone belongs.

Mark your calendars for our very first Special Needs Trunk N Treat on Saturday, October 24! Open to individuals of all ages with special needs and their siblings, this event offers a fun, safe, and inclusive way to celebrate Halloween. The Special Needs Trunk N Treat will be held on Saturday, October 24 from 3 to 4 PM at Shadowlawn Park's new inclusive playground.

Interested in hosting a trunk or donating treats and toys? Contact the Parks Administrative Office at (901) 385-5590 during standard operating hours to learn how you can get involved.
