We are officially 9 days away from the 4th of July, and while it may be a fun holiday for us, it can be one of the scariest nights of the year for shelter dogs.

The fireworks, loud noises, and stress of the kennels can be overwhelming, especially for our nervous dogs, seniors, puppies, and long-stay residents.

That’s why we are launching Couch Crashers, a new low-commitment foster program that gives shelter dogs a much needed break. It’s just for a night or two, but for them, it can make all the difference.

For the 4th of July, our goal is to have all of our dogs, including puppies if we have them, in foster homes instead of spending the holiday scared in their kennels.

Please consider opening your home on one of the scariest nights of the year for shelter dogs. We will provide everything you need, and our team will help match you with a dog that is the right fit for your home.

They don’t need forever that weekend. They just need a quiet home, a couch, and someone willing to give them a break. ❤️🐾

Meet Po! 🐾

He’s 27 pounds, 6 years old, and full of love. Po is partially deaf and blind, but the second he senses you’re nearby, his wiggle butt turns on and he gets so happy.

He was recently returned through no fault of his own. His previous family was moving and sadly couldn’t take him with them. Now Po is ready for his next chapter and available for adoption at our Main Shelter.

Come meet this sweet boy. He’s ready to be someone’s best friend. ❤️

These tiny kittens are looking for foster homes where they can rest, recover, and grow. Many of them are currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection (URI), so a warm, quiet home can make all the difference while they continue healing.

As a foster, you’ll provide the love and comfort and they’ll provide the purrs. We’ll provide the medical care, medications and support you need every step of the way.

Wishlist Wednesday: Kiddie Pools Needed!

It is hot, and our animals love getting the chance to cool off in the pool. We are currently in need of 5–6 medium and large kiddie pools for the dogs in our care. These pools give our animals a fun way to beat the Florida heat, splash around, and enjoy a little extra enrichment during their day.

After 1,780 days… Rando is finally home. ❤️

For almost five years, Rando waited patiently at PBHSN for someone to see what we’ve always known: that he is so special.

He was a staff favorite, loved deeply by our team, and never once forgotten. And now, after so many days of waiting, it was finally his turn.

His new family shared that he is already spoiled rotten, loves his Dino, and said it was simply meant to be. 🦖❤️

This is why we do what we do. For the dogs who wait the longest. For the ones who need us to keep believing. For the happy endings that make every hard day worth it.

Thank you to our animal care team, adoption team, volunteers, and everyone who never gave up on Rando.

Our boy is finally home.

At 5:30 PM today, our $0 adoption event comes to an end.

For so many of the dogs and cats in our care, this is their last chance to leave the shelter today. Their last chance to trade a kennel for a couch, a family, and a place to finally call home.

Some have been waiting far longer than they ever should.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, this is your sign. Don’t wait for “someday.” By tomorrow, the promotion will be over—but these animals will still be waiting.

Help us clear the shelter. Help us make room for the next animals who will need us. Most importantly, help one of these incredible pets finally find the family they’ve been hoping for.

For many of these animals, today is more than the end of a promotion. It’s another chance to be seen. Another chance for someone to stop at their kennel. Another chance to finally go home.

Tomorrow, the promotion ends. But they’ll still be here, waiting for the family they’ve been hoping for.
