The Celebration of Life Monument Gathering celebrated the 434 names added to the Salt Lake City monument in 2026. Each name engraved saved/healed lives through organ, tissue, and/or eye donation.

Loved ones of donor heroes shared their personal stories, and attendees enjoyed emotional music and dance. 💙💚

Alexis saved four lives when she lost her own because she was an organ, tissue, and eye donor. To honor her gift of life, DonorConnect recently unveiled a tribute plaque in the Roosevelt, UT DLD (Driver License Division) alongside her loving family.

These plaques, which can be found in DLDs all across Utah, show the large impact one "yes" can have on a community.

"My son, Alec, was just shy of his 22nd birthday when we lost him in a motorcycle accident. He had already marked 'yes' to organ donation on his license, which was something we’d talked about as a family.

The transplant coordinator was very impressed that someone so young had already designated that on his license. While his injuries prevented major organ donation, he was still able to help around 60 people through tissue and cornea donation.

As a mom, knowing that my son’s decision made such a difference brings comfort in the heartbreak. Tissue donor families don’t always hear the stories of who they’ve helped, but knowing Alec’s gift had such an impact gives me strength." -Melissa

DonorConnect hosted the Celebration of Life last weekend. This event honors the names of organ, tissue, and eye donors added to the glass panels every year at the Celebration of Life Donor Monument in downtown Salt Lake City. In 2026, 434 names were added to the monument.

Attendees heard the stories of donor heroes from their loved ones, enjoyed face painting, and watched healing performances from the Emerald Society Bag Pipes and the Cultural Fire jingle dress dance. People were given the opportunity to write their loved ones notes, paint rocks, draw with chalk, and more.

We were asked about donation at the hospital. We checked his driver's license and saw the little red heart. He had already made his own decision, so we honored his wishes. He loved helping others.

We've stayed in contact with his heart recipient and have met his left kidney recipient. They are forever grateful." -Tammy
