Utah Food for Families

Utah Food for Families Our mission is to feed the hungry and provide practical ways to keep them healthy, strong, and moving ahead during hard times. The Story of . . . . .

Utah Food for Families is a non-denominational evangelical Christian organization providing resources for spiritual and physical aid to families in the Greater Salt Lake area. Utah Food for Families was established in July 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic. In the midst of shutdowns, quarantines, and the fear of the unknown a group of willing people decided to make a difference. Leadership at Calv

ary Salt Lake and Calvary Thrift Store joined together to start distributing food to those in need. The first distributions took place in the parking lot of Calvary Thrift in West Jordan Utah. As the need grew and the weather changed the weekly distributions were moved to the parking lot of Calvary Salt Lake in the middle of the Greater Salt Lake Valley. What started with a couple ice chests full of frozen chicken has grown into food boxes packed full of non-perishable pantry items; meat, dairy, produce and bakery items. Clothing is also available for men, women, and children; along with seasonal give-a-ways that have included backpacks filled with school supplies, hygiene kits, diapers, new shoes, and special holiday food packages. We are not just focused on meeting the physical but also the spiritual needs of those whom God brings our way. We offer prayer and a listening ear, seeking to develop real relationships that bring hope and practical guidance. Our ongoing Thursday night programs include Celebrate Recovery a biblically based support group that assists those struggling with life’s challenges; Marriage Matters classes which provide biblical principles to couples seeking to enrich their relationship and a Children’s Program that gives kids a safe and fun place to learn about the love of Jesus. Our goal is to FEED, CLOTHE AND LOVE, even when it’s hard.

RESURRECTION SUNDAY

“Do not be afraid…
He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.”
Matthew 28:5–6

The stone wasn’t just rolled away from a tomb…
it was rolled away from fear, from death, from hopelessness.

The grave is empty.
The promise is fulfilled.
Jesus is alive.

Today, we don’t just remember—
we rejoice in a living Savior who still brings life, freedom, and hope.

No matter what feels buried in your life…
resurrection is still possible

Today we pray for resurrection hope to fill hearts everywhere.
That what feels dead would come alive again.
That what feels lost would be found.
That what feels hopeless would be restored.

Jesus didn’t stay in the grave—He conquered it.
And because He lives, there is new life, fresh starts, and real hope available to all.

🙏 Pray that hearts would be awakened.
🙏 Pray that people would encounter the love of Christ.
🙏 Pray that many would step out of darkness and into His life.

“He is not here; He has risen!”

Wednesday – Pray for the Cross to Be Understood

Today we pause and pray that people wouldn’t just see the cross…
but truly understand it.

The cross is more than a symbol.
It is where justice and mercy met.
Where sin was paid for.
Where love was fully displayed.

Pray that hearts would grasp this truth:
Jesus didn’t just die… He died for them.

Ask God to remove confusion, religion, and familiarity
and replace it with awe, clarity, and personal understanding.

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:8

Tuesday – Pray for Conviction of Sin

As we prepare our hearts for Easter, today we are praying for something powerful and necessary—conviction.

Pray that God would open hearts to the reality of sin…
Not to bring shame, but to lead people to grace.

Before there is forgiveness, there must be awareness.
Before there is new life, there must be surrender.

Pray that many would recognize their need for Jesus—
and find mercy, hope, and freedom in Him.

“Repent and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.” – Acts 3:19
