Pain by itself doesn’t heal us. Time by itself doesn’t heal us. True healing begins when we stop running from the truth and allow God to shine His light into the places we’ve tried to hide.

The truth may be uncomfortable, but it is also where freedom begins.

Many people battling addiction carry wounds that run deeper than anyone can see.

Some were abandoned.
Some were abused.
Some were rejected.
Some learned long ago to numb pain instead of dealing with it.

The problem is that what we refuse to face often ends up controlling us.

Drugs, alcohol, po*******hy, and other addictions often begin as an attempt to escape emotional pain. But numbing a wound is not the same as healing it. The pain remains, waiting beneath the surface.

Lesson 4 of the Pilgrims Path Recovery Curriculum focuses on emotional maturity and healing. Scripture teaches that our emotions are not meant to rule us, nor are they meant to be ignored. They reveal what is happening in our hearts and point us toward areas where God’s truth needs to bring healing.

The good news is that your past does not have the final word.

Because God is sovereign, even the darkest chapters of our lives are not beyond His redeeming grace. Through Christ, broken stories can become testimonies. Deep wounds can become places where God’s mercy shines brightest.

“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” — Proverbs 4:23

Healing doesn’t come from running from the pain. It comes from bringing it to the One who knows every wound and is able to redeem every part of your story.

Last night we studied Romans 5:1-11 and were reminded of the incredible blessings that belong to those who have been justified by faith in Jesus Christ.

Because of Christ, we have peace with God, access to His grace, and a sure hope of sharing in His glory. Even our trials have purpose, as God uses them to produce endurance, character, and hope. Most importantly, we saw the depth of God’s love displayed at the cross; while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

If God loved us enough to save us when we were His enemies, how much more can we trust Him now that we have been reconciled to Him through Christ?

Join us next Sunday at 6:00 PM as we continue walking verse by verse through Romans 5 and growing together in God’s Word.

Sobriety is not the same as salvation.

A person can be free from drugs and alcohol and still be spiritually dead apart from Christ. Recovery that stops at sobriety falls short of our greatest need…the forgiveness of sins and new life in Jesus.

True freedom is found in Him.

The Bible is filled with flawed people who were transformed by God's grace.

Whether it's Peter's impulsiveness, David's failures, Moses' doubts, or Paul's past, their stories remind us that God uses imperfect people for His glory.

Last night we continued our study through the book of Romans, looking at chapter 4 and the incredible truth that sinners are justified by faith apart from works. We saw how Abraham was counted righteous not because of what he had done, but because he believed God. Salvation has always been by grace through faith, from beginning to end.

Romans 4 reminds us that our standing before God is not based on our performance, our past, or our ability to clean ourselves up. It is based entirely on the finished work of Jesus Christ and received through faith alone.

If you missed the study, we would love to have you join us next Sunday at 6pm as we continue our journey through Romans and begin chapter 5. We'll be looking at the peace, hope, and assurance that belong to those who have been justified by faith.
