If you live in the Asheville area, head to 347 Depot Street in the River Arts District, and see the Intertwined exhibit!

We were fortunate to be able to travel to see this show again, with some new work but the same beautiful spirit, bringing the perceived gap between art, humanity, and nature.

This exhibit will be up through December and is well with the drive if you missed it in July, or you just want to be carried away by some beautiful work.

Tomorrow’s Arts in Appalachia concert with the Old World Echoes Trio is postponed. Hurricane Isaias is bringing heavy rain and wind our way Saturday, and we want Jeanne, John, and Paul, and all of you, home and off the roads. We’ll be back with a November date soon. Stay safe and dry!

“Surviving Traces” opened Friday and we had just over 120 people come out over the course of the evening.

Linda Williams McCune stayed and talked to attendees, guiding them through the exhibit. This exhibit was curated by our Executive Director, Rachel Watson, who selected pieces from the artist’s collection. This is McCune’s 53rd solo show.

What we kept hearing: breathtaking, intricate, lonesome, stunning, complex. Several people landed on something about distance and connection living in the same piece. The drawings tend to swallow you rather than invite you in. Critic Jeffrey Day, writing about her work last month, called it "somber, tinged with nostalgia and sadness, but always honest." That matched what people were saying Friday.

Surviving Traces is up through the end of October. Monday through Saturday, 10 to 5, and now Sundays 11 to 4. Give yourself time with it.

5 artists came together to comment visually on humanity, nature, and art. They titled their show Intertwined, and it was appropriate on so many levels- as they worked together they created a beautiful, cohesive body of work and their lives also became intertwined... illustrating an unexpected aspect of the show- community. Without community, all the rest falls short. We are SO proud to have been able to present this show and we're looking forward to attending the next opening at 347 Depot St, Asheville NC 28801.

The opening reception will be Thursday, October 8th from 2-4pm.
