This post is a little long but worth the read, we promise.
It is hard for people right now.
But Logan’s Run Rescue is stepping up to help.
Groceries cost more.
Gas costs more.
Utilities cost more.
Almost everything families need just to get through the month costs more.
And for a lot of people, there simply isn’t much left over.
Families are trying to clothe growing kids.
Seniors are stretching fixed incomes as far as they can.
Working people are doing everything right and still finding themselves counting every dollar before payday.
That is the reality for a lot of people in our community.
Most people know Logan’s Run Rescue because of our work with animals.
They know us for animal rescue.
They know us for helping provide affordable, low-cost and even ZERO-cost spay/neuter services and medical care for pets and animals that need our help.
And we are incredibly proud of that work.
But what people sometimes overlook is just how much Logan’s Run Rescue also does for the PEOPLE in our community.
Every single day, families walk through our doors because they need to make their money stretch farther.
A mom may come in because her kids outgrew their clothes again and she simply cannot afford to spend hundreds of dollars replacing everything.
A grandparent may be trying to find shoes or school clothes for grandchildren they are helping raise.
A senior may need a chair, a kitchen table, a winter coat or household necessities but has to make the same Social Security check cover groceries, prescriptions, utilities and everything else.
A young family may need furniture for their first home but cannot afford retail prices.
And sometimes someone comes through our doors because life just knocked them down a little harder than they expected.
Those are the people we think about when we price things.
When Logan’s Run Rescue sells clothing for $1, $2 or $3, that is not because those clothes do not have value.
They have tremendous value.
Because maybe the $50 that family DIDN’T have to spend on clothing can now go toward groceries.
Maybe the money someone saves buying a couch from us keeps the power on.
Maybe a parent can walk through our doors worried about how they are going to clothe their children and walk back out knowing they are going to be okay.
That matters to us.
And there is something pretty special about what happens next.
The money that family spends with us does not disappear into some corporation.
It comes right back around to help another part of our community.
It helps stop the suffering and pain of animals.
It helps provide medical care.
It helps pay for spay and neuter surgeries.
It helps an animal that might otherwise have nowhere to go.
So one person’s bargain can become another animal’s second chance.
That is Logan’s Run Rescue.
We do not want to simply ask our community to help us.
We want to give something back.
We want families to know there is somewhere they can go when money is tight.
We want seniors to know their limited income can stretch a little farther.
We want parents to know their children can still have nice clothes without breaking the family budget.
And we want pet owners to know that when they desperately need help caring for an animal they love, there may still be an option.
Because charity should not only be about asking people to give.
Sometimes charity is looking around at the people standing beside you and saying:
“How can we help you, too?”
