American Legion Post 96 in Murphy invites all veterans to join us Monday morning for breakfast, fellowship, and our monthly meeting at Mountain Vale Lodge in downtown Murphy.

Whether you are a longtime Legionnaire, recently separated from service, or simply looking to reconnect with fellow veterans in the community — you are welcome to attend.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers today — and especially to our Gold Star Mothers and the mothers whose sons and daughters are currently serving far from home.

Some mothers celebrate today with hugs and laughter around the table.
Some wait patiently for a phone call from across the world.
And some carry folded flags, photographs, and memories held deep within their hearts.

To the mothers who gave their child in service to this nation:
Your sacrifice is not forgotten.
Your child is not forgotten.

To the mothers praying daily for deployed sons and daughters:
May the Lord watch over them, strengthen them, and safely bring them home.

On this Mother’s Day, our thoughts and prayers are with every military family carrying both pride and sacrifice.

And for those who know the pain of loss, may the peace of Jesus Christ comfort your heart with the promise that one day there will be no more war, no more tears, and joyful reunions in His presence.

Happy Mother’s Day.

🇺🇸 Veterans — here’s something simple and good.

On Wednesday, May 6 at 4:00 PM, we’re getting together at Mountain Vale Lodge for a Veterans Get-Together.

No speeches.
No agenda.

Just veterans sitting down together, catching up, telling a few stories, and enjoying some time with people who understand the journey.

The Lodge is offering beer specials, and it’s a comfortable place to relax for a while.

🇺🇸 American Legion Post 96 – Murphy, NC encourages our community to attend this special event honoring veterans.

Join us at the Western Carolina Regional Airport in Andrews for the Welcome Home Veterans Event on Saturday, April 18th from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

This free community event will feature:

✈️ Static military aircraft
🚁 Helicopters
🎶 Patriotic music & presentations
📜 Historical memorabilia
🚚 Food trucks
🚗 Classic cars & motorcycles
🇺🇸 Veteran resources and services

Veterans will eat free.

This event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together to recognize and honor the men and women who have served our nation.

A special Business After Hours event hosted by Ivie Funeral Home will also take place Friday, April 17th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, featuring the powerful Traveling 9/11 Memorial.

Good afternoon everyone,

While we may have lost access to our usual building for the time being, our mission and fellowship remain strong—and fortunately, we can still find coffee and doughnuts, so morale remains high.

🇺🇸 American Legion Post 96 – Temporary Meeting Location Announcement

Due to the closing of the Murphy Veterans Building this week, American Legion Post 96 Murphy will be relocating our monthly meetings to a temporary location while we determine our long-term home.

Beginning Monday, April 7, Post 96 will meet at:

(next to Legends Restaurant)

🥞 Breakfast: 9:00 AM
🇺🇸 Post Meeting: Immediately following breakfast

Our meetings will continue to be held on the first Monday of each month, just as they always have.

While the closing of the Veterans Building marks the end of an important chapter for many veterans in Cherokee County, the mission of the American Legion continues:

• Supporting veterans
• Serving our community
• Preserving the bonds of service and fellowship

A building does not define the Legion — the veterans and the community do.
