You can support literacy in simple, practical ways: read with a child, volunteer as a tutor, donate useful books, support a local library, or encourage someone who is learning at any age.

Today is International Day of Charity.

You do not have to make a grand gesture to make someone’s day, or even their future, a little brighter. Giving your time, sharing a skill, supporting a trusted local organization, helping a neighbor, or contributing what you can all strengthen the community around you.

The most meaningful charity respects dignity, listens carefully, and responds to what people genuinely need.

Today, choose one practical act of generosity and carry it out with kindness. Small acts, offered consistently, can travel much farther than you ever see.

Today is September 1, and September is Rotary’s Basic Education and Literacy Month.

The ability to read, learn, and communicate gives you greater freedom to participate in your community and shape your future. Yet many children and adults still face barriers to the educational opportunities others may take for granted.

You can help in practical ways: mentor a reader, donate useful books, support teachers, strengthen a local library, or simply encourage someone who is learning.

This month, consider where your time or resources could help one more person gain the confidence that comes with learning.

Members of the Rotary Club were proud to distribute free children’s books during the Summer Celebration, helping young readers discover the joy of books and encouraging literacy throughout our community.

There’s nothing better than seeing the smiles on children’s faces as they pick out a book to take home and enjoy.
