Another in great need. This is Smoke - he was picked up stray in Indiana....we think he was likely dumped because he has mouth cancer ;-( The shelter says he is very sweet and asked us if we could possibly take him as a hospice dog. We are working on getting him, and will keep everyone posted. Hang in there Smoke, we are coming for you!

We have some very sad news to report - Sanctuary Sweetheart Uno/Shadow has gone on ahead to The Bridge. Despite the best efforts of our wonderful vets, and the amazing care his peeps gave him, his body just was worn out and he let us know it was time to go on ahead and wait for us on the other side. Thanks to ALL who supported him, he had an amazing twilight filled with love and adventures. We will miss him terribly.

Thanks to the kind donors who made donations in memory of Jessica Ann Gruber, we were able to cover the recent vet visits for our old Sanctuary Sweetheart, Uno/Shadow, in honor of Jessica's boy Loki. Thank you all for your kindness in Jessica's memory - Uno sends you all soft woos for helping him.

If anyone would like to send a toy or treat to our rescue kids - you can send a Chewy giftcard for as little as $5 (easy to do when you order stuff for your own kids!) And we do have a Chewy wishlist as well: https://www.chewy.com/g/illinois-alaskan-malamute-rescue-assoc-iamra_b77225253 -list&wishlistsortby=AVAILABILITY

UPDATE on UNO(Shadow) - our big old sweetie is doing okay - has had a couple vet visits, the first 'extra med' - gabapentin, made him too loopy and exacerbated his problems. So he is now starting a trial of Amantadine, to see if that helps him. Our sweet old guy is still enjoying life and not ready to give up yet!
