CF is more than a lung disease.

When most people think of cystic fibrosis, they think of breathing problems. But CF affects so much more than the lungs. It impacts digestion, the pancreas, sinuses, liver, and even fertility. For those living with CF, it’s a whole-body disease that requires daily treatments, medications, and constant care.

Liv for a Cure is committed to spreading awareness that CF is complex—and that every system it touches deserves attention, research, and a path to a cure.

What is CF?�Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a rare, genetic disease that makes it hard to breathe and digest food. Thanks to daily treatments and medical advances, many kids and adults with CF can live fuller lives.

Some people have rare forms of CF that don’t yet have medicine to ease their symptoms. Liv for a Cure is dedicated to raising awareness for the 10% of those with CF who don’t benefit from these lifesaving medications—and to funding the research needed to close that gap.

We are excited to announce registration is open for our Second Annual Louis’ Loop, a Liv for a Cure 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 1 in Park Ridge! This 5K aims to raise awareness and funds for those living with rare forms of cystic fibrosis like our dear Louis and Liv. Come out and join the fun! Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease that affects approximately 70,000 children and adults worldwide.

CF causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and other organs, leading to a variety of health problems, including:

- Repeated lung infections
- Difficulty breathing
- Digestive problems
- Liver disease
- Diabetes

Gene therapy offers the potential to cure CF by correcting the underlying genetic defect and benefiting the 10% of those with CF who are not eligible for life saving medications.

On this Giving Tuesday, we are asking you to donate to the Liv for a Cure Foundation to support our efforts to develop gene therapy for CF.

Your donation will help us fund the research that is needed to bring this life-saving treatment to CF patients who have waited far too long for their chance at a cure.
