🚨 Tick bites are surging earlier than usual this year.

Data from CDC shows ER visits for tick bites are higher than normal nationwide and at their highest levels for this time of year since 2017.

Warmer weather and an early spring are driving ticks out sooner, increasing the risk of illnesses like Lyme disease and alpha-gal syndrome.

In March, "Operation Spring Cleaning,” a multi-agency law enforcement operation, was conducted in Southwest Missouri.

During the operation, law enforcement seized a total of 11.21 pounds of co***ne, 1.5 pounds of fentanyl, 204.89 pounds of ma*****na, 88.14 pounds of methamphetamine, and 2.06 pounds of psilocyn.

Medetomidine, a veterinary tranquilizer, is increasingly being detected in the illegal drug supply, warns CDC. Humans who are exposed to medetomidine (also referred to as “rhino tranq,” “mede,” or “dex”) are at risk of experiencing bradycardia, hypotension, and sedation and may also experience withdrawal symptoms.

CDC advises administering opioid overdose reversal medications in suspected overdoses, as fentanyl is involved in most overdoses where medetomidine is present. Read more: cdc.gov/han/php/notices/han00527.html
