YOU ARE NOT TOO OLD. ❤️

You are not too old to start a rescue.

You are not too old to foster a dog.

You are not too old to start fostering a dog.

You are not too old to go back to school.

You are not too old to learn a new skill.

You are not too old to travel somewhere you've always dreamed of seeing.

You are not too old to start a garden.

You are not too old to take dance lessons.

You are not too old to write that book.

You are not too old to volunteer.

You are not too old to make new friends.

You are not too old to find love.

You are not too old to change careers.

You are not too old to adopt a dog and experience the joy of unconditional love.

You are not too old to check items off your bucket list.

And you are certainly not too old to become the person you've always wanted to be.

Too often, people spend years waiting for the "right time."

The truth is, there may never be a perfect time.

Life is happening right now.

Take the trip.

Learn the hobby.

Volunteer for the cause that matters to you.

Start the rescue.

Open your heart to a dog in need.

Say yes to the adventure.

Years from now, you won't regret the things you tried. You'll regret the things you were too afraid to start.

Today is a good day to begin.

❤️ One small step can change the rest of your life.

☀️ FINDING A LITTLE ZEN IN A BUSY RESCUE LIFE ☀️

In rescue, finding a few quiet moments during the day can feel almost impossible.

But those moments matter.

Starting the day with the right mindset can make all the difference when the unexpected challenges arrive

— and in rescue, they always do.

My mornings are simple.

🥚 Two eggs for breakfast

🍵 Green tea with peptides and bone broth powder

🧴 A little sunscreen, moisturizer, and my loyal scarf

🐾 And most importantly, a walk with my four dogs before the craziness begins

Those simple routines help me start the day feeling grounded, focused, and ready for whatever comes next.

One thing I've learned is that writing down a

handful of "must-do" tasks keeps me moving forward without becoming overwhelmed by the hundred other things competing for attention.

At Perfectly Posh Paws Rescue, we also recognize that our fosters need breaks, quiet moments, and mental health days too.

Caring for animals is rewarding, but it can also be emotionally exhausting. Taking care of yourself isn't selfish — it's necessary.

So today, this is your gentle reminder:

☀️ Step outside and feel the sunshine.

🐶 Spend a few extra minutes with your dog.

🐱 Listen to your cat purr.

🌿 Take a deep breath.

📝 Focus on a few important tasks instead of all of them.

Sometimes the smallest moments bring the greatest peace.

And often, our animals remind us how to slow down, be present, and appreciate the simple things.

Because rescue starts with caring for animals...

But it also means caring for the people who love them.

❤️

🐾 YOUR STRESS ISN’T JUST YOURS — YOUR DOG FEELS IT TOO 🐾

Have you ever noticed your dog acting differently when you’re stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, or sad?

Science suggests that’s not your imagination.

Researchers have found that cortisol

— often called the “stress hormone”

— can synchronize between dogs and their people over time.

In other words, our dogs may be carrying some of our emotional burden right alongside us.

Dogs don’t just hear our words.

They watch our body language.
They notice changes in our routines.
They sense tension in our voices.
They feel the energy we bring into a room.

And because of the incredible bond between humans and dogs, they often respond to our emotional state.

💙 When we’re calm, they tend to be calmer.

💙 When we’re anxious, they may become more anxious.

💙 When we’re overwhelmed, they may struggle too.

This is especially important for rescue dogs who may already be learning how to feel safe in a new environment.

The good news?

The opposite is also true.

A quiet walk.
A gentle touch.
A peaceful routine.
A few minutes sitting together.

These moments help both you and your dog regulate stress.

At Perfectly Posh Paws Rescue, we’ve seen it countless times.

Dogs help heal people, but people also help heal dogs. The relationship goes both ways.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your dog is take care of yourself.

And sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is spend a little time with your dog.

❤️ Because healing is often shared.

🧀 WHY DO VETS OFTEN RECOMMEND COTTAGE CHEESE FOR DOGS THAT AREN’T FEELING WELL? 🐾

When a dog isn’t feeling their best, has a decreased appetite, or is recovering from illness.

- many veterinarians and experienced rescuers will sometimes recommend small amounts of plain cottage cheese as part of a temporary bland diet.

Why?

🐾 High-Quality Protein
Cottage cheese contains protein that helps support muscles, tissue repair,

- and recovery. When dogs aren’t eating much, every bite counts.

🐾 Gentle on the Stomach
Many dogs find cottage cheese easy to digest compared to heavier foods.

🐾 Tempting for Picky Appetites
A dog that turns away from kibble

- may be willing to eat cottage cheese because of its smell, texture, and taste.

🐾 Provides Energy During Recovery
The combination of protein and nutrients

- can help support dogs that are feeling weak or recovering from illness, surgery, or stress.

🐾 Can Be Mixed with Other Bland Foods

Many vets recommend combining small amounts of cottage cheese with:
• Plain boiled chicken
• Plain turkey
• White rice
• Cooked sweet potatoes

⚠️ A Few Important Notes

• Choose plain, low-fat cottage cheese whenever possible.

• Avoid varieties with garlic, onions, chives, or added seasonings.

• Not all dogs tolerate dairy, so introduce small amounts first.

• If your dog refuses food for more than 24 hours,

- is vomiting, has diarrhea, seems lethargic, or has other concerning symptoms, contact your veterinarian promptly.

At Perfectly Posh Paws Rescue, we’ve cared for many dogs recovering from illness, stress, surgery, and neglect.

While cottage cheese isn’t a cure-all, it can sometimes be a helpful tool

- to encourage eating and provide valuable nutrition when a dog needs a little extra support.

❤️ Sometimes healing starts with medication.

❤️ Sometimes it starts with rest.

❤️ And sometimes it starts with a few bites of something comforting.

🌿 PLANTS, PEOPLE, AND THE POWER OF CONNECTION 🌿

Did you know that researchers have found that being around plants can

reduce stress
lower blood pressure
improve mood

and even help people recover from illness?

Plants don’t speak.

They don’t offer advice.

They simply exist—growing, breathing, and quietly changing the environment around them.

Yet somehow, we feel better in their presence.

Maybe that’s because all living things are connected in ways we’re only beginning to understand.

A walk through a forest.
A garden in bloom.
A houseplant on a windowsill.
A dog sleeping beside you.

They all have something in common:

They invite us to slow down.

To breathe.

To be present.

In rescue, we often talk about the healing power of animals, but nature itself can be healing.

Plants, trees, flowers, horses, dogs, cats—each reminds us that life isn’t just about rushing from one thing to the next.

Sometimes healing happens quietly.

In the warmth of the sun.
In the rustle of leaves.
In the gentle presence of a living being sharing space with us.

The more we learn about nature, the more we discover that connection may be one of the most powerful forms of medicine there is.

💚 Take a moment today to step outside.
💚 Feel the sun.
💚 Touch a leaf.
💚 Hug your dog.
💚 Breathe deeply.

Your mind, body, and heart may thank you.

🐾🌿

🐴 THE QUIET HEALERS AMONG US ❤️

Did you know that studies have shown horses and humans can synchronize their heart rate variability within minutes of being together?

Heart rate variability (HRV) is often used as a measure of stress, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.

Researchers have observed that when people spend time with horses, their physiological responses can begin to mirror one another.

Think about that for a moment.

A horse doesn’t care about your job title.
A horse doesn’t care about your mistakes.
A horse doesn’t care what happened yesterday.

They simply respond to who you are in that moment.

Many people describe feeling calmer, more grounded, and more present around horses.

Whether it’s the rhythm of their breathing, their quiet presence, or the trust that develops between species, something remarkable happens when humans connect with animals.

And while this study focused on horses, those of us involved in rescue see similar moments every day.

A frightened dog resting its head on someone’s lap.

A grieving person finding comfort in a loyal companion.

A child learning confidence through the unconditional love of an animal.

A senior finding purpose in caring for a pet.

Animals may not solve every problem, but they often help carry the weight of them.

The bond between humans and animals is powerful, healing, and sometimes difficult to explain.

Yet anyone who has loved a pet knows exactly what it feels like.

At Perfectly Posh Paws Rescue, we witness these connections every day—and they remind us why rescue matters.

❤️ Because sometimes healing doesn’t come from words.

🐾 Sometimes it comes from four paws, a gentle nudge, and a heart beating beside your own.

Note: Research on horse-human heart rate synchronization is ongoing, but the findings continue to highlight the fascinating connection between animals and people.

🐾 THE COMFORT OF A LOYAL COMPANION 🐾

Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld was known around the world for his creativity, success, and larger-than-life personality.

But one of the greatest loves of his life wasn't a person.

It was his cat, Choupette.

Their bond became so strong that when he passed away, he reportedly made provisions for her future care and well-being.

To many people, that may seem unusual.

But for those of us who share our lives with animals, it makes perfect sense.

Animals don't care about our bank accounts, our titles, our mistakes, or our failures.

They don't judge us when we're struggling.

They don't walk away when life gets difficult.

They simply show up.
Day after day.

With loyalty, trust, and unconditional love.

In rescue, we see this every day.

We meet people whose dogs helped them through grief after losing a spouse.

People battling loneliness who found companionship in a furry friend.

Families who found comfort after difficult times.

Seniors who found purpose again because a dog still needed them.

And dogs who waited patiently for someone to love them back.

The truth is that animals bring comfort to people in ways that are often impossible to measure.

They give us a sense of belonging.
They provide peace in the middle of chaos.

They make us laugh when we want to cry.

And sometimes, they become the one steady presence in a world that feels uncertain.

Rescue isn't just about saving animals.

It's also about recognizing the incredible ways animals save us.

WHERE HAVE WE BEEN?

Some of our followers, supporters, and friends may have noticed that things have been quieter than usual here at Perfectly Posh Paws Rescue.

The truth is, rescue has seasons.
There are seasons filled with adoptions, happy updates, and exciting new arrivals.

And then there are seasons where the behind-the-scenes challenges demand every ounce of your time, energy, and heart.

Over the past several months, we've been navigating

medical cases
rising veterinary costs
difficult decisions

and the everyday realities that come with running a small rescue.

While we've continued caring for the dogs who depend on us, we've been a little quieter online than usual.

The reality is that rescue doesn't just impact our schedules

—it impacts our families, our finances, our emotions, and every part of our daily lives.

Many people see the happy endings, but they don't always see the
sleepless nights
the worry
the vet bills

or the responsibility that comes with being entrusted with vulnerable lives.

There have been days when we've felt exhausted.

Days when we've questioned how we would keep moving forward.

Days when the weight felt heavier than we wanted to admit.

But through it all, the dogs still need us.

And because of that, we keep showing up.

We are incredibly grateful to every adopter, donor, foster, volunteer, supporter, and follower who continues to stand beside us.

Your encouragement, kindness, shares, donations, and belief in our mission matter more than you know.

If we've been a little quiet, please know it wasn't because we stopped caring.

Sometimes the work simply happens behind the scenes.
Thank you for being here.

Thank you for supporting rescue.

And thank you for helping us continue to give dogs a second chance.

Please continue to cheer us on, comment on our posts, follow our stories and understand our struggles.
