When the puppy excitement fades…
When the couch gets chewed…
When the walks take longer because their legs have grown old…

Will you be there?

When thunderstorms frighten them and they need to sleep beside you.

When an accident on the floor means they need help.

When the vet says, “We need to talk,” and you wish you could turn back time.

Will you offer the same gentle hands that welcomed them home?

Love is easy when life is easy. Commitment is showing up when someone you love needs a little more from you.

Our dogs don’t understand our schedules, bills, or changing plans.

But they learn our footsteps. They look for our faces. They trust us to come back.

And when their muzzle turns gray, they still deserve to hear:
“You’re my good dog. I’m right here.”

If life becomes overwhelming, reach out for help. Asking for support is an act of love, too.

They spend their lives being there for us.

🐾 Dogs Never Forget the Hearts That Loved Them ❤️

The hand that reached for them gently.
The voice that soothed them when they were afraid.
The person who stayed while they learned to feel safe.

Dogs form strong bonds with the people who care for them.

Familiar scents, voices and shared experiences help them recognize the people they trust.

In rescue, we see how much those bonds matter.

Sometimes love looks like a wagging tail and an eager greeting.

Other times, it’s quieter—a dog finally sleeping peacefully beside you or resting their head in your hand.

Trust doesn’t always arrive right away. But every kind interaction helps it grow.

If you’re helping a dog settle into your home:

🐾 Keep daily routines predictable.
🐾 Reward the behaviors you want to encourage.
🐾 Let them approach you for affection.
🐾 Give them a quiet place to rest.
🐾 Be patient when progress comes slowly.

A dog who keeps their distance may need more time to feel comfortable.

Giving them that time is kindness, too.

We cannot know every memory a dog carries. But we can help make their next chapter feel safe, happy and loved.

Never underestimate what your kindness can mean to an animal.

What feels like a small moment to you may be the beginning of trust for them. ❤️

YOUR DOG DOESN’T KNOW WHAT “WE’RE MOVING” MEANS.

They know your footsteps.
Your voice.
Their place beside you.

They know you are home.

Every day in rescue, we see the posts:

“We’re moving and can’t take our dog.”
“We don’t have time anymore.”
“They’re getting too old.”

Behind each post is a dog whose future suddenly depends on strangers stepping forward.

And behind those strangers are exhausted rescuers trying to make room, find another foster, pay another vet bill, and help one more dog.

We cannot rescue our way out of people treating animals as disposable.

I’m going to say something that may make some people uncomfortable:

When you bring home a dog, you are accepting a responsibility for their entire life.

Through chewed shoes and house-training accidents.
Through changes in your home and your schedule.
Through gray muzzles, slower walks, and medical needs.

Your dog should be part of those plans.

Behavior problems? Seek help. Train them. Give them time to learn.

Moving? Start looking early for housing that welcomes your dog.

Getting older? Give them the patience and comfort they have earned.

Their need for you doesn’t disappear when caring for them becomes difficult.

I know devastating circumstances happen.

Sometimes a safe, carefully planned rehoming is necessary. Asking for help can be an act of love.

But dumping a dog, leaving them on the street, or handing them to anyone willing to take them is abandonment.

And we need to stop making excuses for it.

I have seen these dogs with my own eyes. Frightened in kennels. Watching the door. Struggling to settle after losing everything familiar.

The seniors hurt my heart especially.

After years of companionship, they deserve a soft bed, a familiar hand, and someone who stays.

They deserve to grow old feeling loved and safe.

Dogs cannot explain their fear or ask what happens next.

They depend on us to protect them

—even when doing so takes effort, sacrifice, and planning.

That is why I will keep speaking for them.

Before you get a dog, ask yourself:

“Am I prepared to care for this animal when it’s hard, expensive, messy, and inconvenient

—not just when it’s fun?”

If you aren’t ready for that commitment, wait.

Because “You’re coming home with me” should be a promise you have thought through—and intend to keep.

Always Better to Be Humble 🤍

You don’t have to be the loudest person in the room to be strong.

You don’t have to prove you’re right to have value.

And you don’t have to pretend you have it all together to be worthy of respect.

There is something beautiful about a person who can simply say:

“I was wrong.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I don’t know.”
“I can do better.”
“Thank you.”

Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself.
It’s knowing who you are without needing everyone else to know it too.

And honesty isn’t always comfortable—but it gives you something pretending never will: peace.

Stay humble.
Tell the truth.
Own your mistakes.
Give others credit.
Keep learning.

Because at the end of the day, character isn’t what we tell people we are.

It’s who we are when there’s nothing to prove.

💗 Welcome, Precious, to Perfectly Posh Paws! 💗🐾

We were in the middle of a rescue transport when the phone rang.

A sweet little girl named Precious needed rescue, so we drove straight to pick her up.

She jumped right into the car—and wasted no time asking for love!

First came the spa treatment: a bath, a trim, and freshly clipped nails. 🛁✂️ Then it was off to the Posh House, where she’s settling in beautifully with six other dogs.

Precious is curious, easy to handle, and does well with young children and dogs. So far, we haven’t heard a bark—but she certainly knows how to ask for attention!

If you have a free hand, Precious has a suggestion for how to use it. Belly rubs and affection, please! 🥰

Thursday, she heads to the vet for her spay and vaccinations. For now, she’s enjoying the company, the comfort, and all the love coming her way.

Welcome to the good life, Precious. We’re so glad we answered that call. 💕

🐾 CODY DIDN’T COME LOOKING FOR ATTENTION…

HE CAME LOOKING FOR HIS PLACE. ❤️

When Cody first arrived at the Posh House, he was a quiet little boy.

He didn’t push his way into the action.
He didn’t compete with the other Posh dogs for attention.

He simply watched.

He observed life happening around him, quietly taking everything in, almost as if he was trying to figure out where he fit.

And then, little by little, Cody started to let us in.

He would quietly walk up to one of us and gently touch his nose to our hand.

No barking. No jumping.

Just a tiny little nudge that seemed to say…

“Could you love on me for a minute?” ❤️

And of course, we did.

It didn’t take long before this unassuming little guy had completely stolen our hearts.

Then Karen came along.

She was looking for a little buddy for their 7-year-old dog, Piper.

At the meet-and-greet, there were no fireworks. No crazy puppy antics.

Just something even better.

Piper and Cody simply understood each other.

They were gentle. Respectful. Comfortable.

And Cody soaked up every bit of attention from the kids like he had been waiting for them all along.

And just like that…

An adoption took place.
A family photo was taken.
Hugs were given.
Promises were made to stay in touch.

But the best part came afterward.

We already received an update from Karen.

Cody found his person.

And it’s her. ❤️

At night, he waits for Karen to bring him upstairs so he can curl up with her and cuddle through the night.

He’s already had a trip to the groomer and is looking VERY dapper.

Our quiet little observer isn’t wondering where he belongs anymore.

He knows.

He has Piper.
He has kids to love.
He has a mom to cuddle with.
And he has a family treating him like the little prince we always knew he was.

Cody, you didn’t need to make a lot of noise to leave a big mark on our hearts.

Live curiously, sweet boy. 🐾❤️

We already miss you at the Posh House.

But this is why we do it.

Because sometimes a happy ending isn’t really an ending at all.

It’s the moment a dog finally realizes… “I’m home.” 🏡❤️

A HUG IS SOMETIMES THE BEST MEDICINE. ❤️

We spend so much time assuming there will always be another day.

Another day to call.
Another day to say I love you.
Another day to make things right.
Another day to give someone a hug.

But none of us are promised another day.

So today, hug your mom.
Hug your dad.
Your sister. Your brother.
Your spouse. Your child.
Your friend.
Even your neighbor.

And if you have a dog waiting for you at home… get down on the floor and hug them too. 🐾❤️

Because sometimes people aren’t looking for advice.
They don’t need you to fix anything.

They just need to feel that they’re not alone.

So hold on a few seconds longer today.

You never know who needs that hug more than they’re letting on.

If they don’t want to spend time with you — let them.

If they’re talking s**t about you — let them.

If they walk away while you’re talking — let them.

If they don’t invite you — let them.

If they stop calling or checking in — let them.

If they misunderstand you without asking for your side — let them.

If they judge you based on someone else’s version of you — let them.

If they only show up when it’s convenient for them — let them.

If they don’t appreciate your heart, your loyalty, or everything you bring to the table — let them.

Stop chasing people for explanations.
Stop begging for effort.

Stop trying to convince people to see your worth.

You cannot control how people treat you, what they say about you, or whether they choose to stay.

But you can control how much access they have to your peace.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is step back and simply say…

Let them.

Let them leave.
Let them talk.
Let them misunderstand you.

And then…

Let yourself move forward.
Let yourself heal.
Let yourself choose people who choose you.
And most importantly, let yourself be happy. ❤️

Let them. And then let yourself choose peace.

We have a feeling she’ll do the same with her person. ❤️

Miss JJ has been waiting at animal control since May 1, yet somehow this beautiful brindle girl hasn’t let kennel life change who she is.

She’s gentle, obedient, smart and eager to please.

She gives her paw, knows basic commands, looks to her people for direction

— and when she feels comfortable, she’ll happily roll over for belly rubs.

She loves children, enjoys being close to people and is comfortable with both men and women.
