The Airway and Mechanical Ventilation train-the-trainer course at Spitalul de Urgenta pentru copii Maria Sklodowska Curie (The Emergency Children's Hospital Maria Sklodowska Curie) in Bucharest, Romania was a success! 🙌

Seven instructor candidates, led by Dr. Ahmed Reda Taha and Dr. Saul Flores, honed their teaching skills, delivering lectures and hands-on skills stations to course attendees. This course will help expand local capacity to deliver SCCM education and strengthen the foundation for sustainable critical care training in Romania.

Approximately 7,000 pediatric out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur each year, with an estimated survival rate of 7.8%. However, there is little research to provide guidance on whether resuscitative measures would be futile and when to perform termination of resuscitation in pediatric patients.

What an educational, collaborative, and inspiring experience at LIVES 2026! 👏

We joined professionals from around the world in Lisbon, Portugal to learn, connect, and advance critical care together. We also had the opportunity to discuss how we can support critical care education in low-resource areas, where access to structured training remains a significant need.

We're so grateful for the opportunity to connect with our global critical care community and continue to strengthen care for critically ill and injured patients worldwide. Thank you to ESICM and all our fellow attendees who made this a great experience!
