Loving Hearts Bear Closet, saves the day...again! ❤️ 🐻

While they prepared to feed the community in McDowell, Philista and her crew packed a box of baby necessities for a Burke county survivor for pick up! Together, we rise!

Cheering for all they do for the love of their community 🏆

For the first time in a very long time, I stepped away.

Many of you have noticed I've been a little quieter these past few weeks. After Hurricane Helene, there never seemed to be a "good time" to take a break. There was always one more family to help, one more meeting, one more truck to unload, one more problem to solve.

Until now.

On June 2, our family welcomed our newest little light into the world... Willow Jay Watson. 🌿

I became a mom at 19, after spending my pregnancy walking the campus of NC State, wondering what the future would hold. Through every chapter of life since then, I've carried a quiet certainty that one day I would be a grandmother. It wasn't just something I hoped for—it felt like something I was meant for.

I was honored to stand beside my incredible daughter-in-law Jamie Moore-Watson as Willow made her way earthside. Watching her strength was one of the most powerful moments of my life. Without even thinking, I found myself calling on all the mothers and grandmothers who came before us, asking them to surround that room with strength, wisdom, love, and protection.

Some moments change you.

This was one of them.

I don't know yet whether she'll call me Gaia, KK... or maybe Gaia K. (We're still negotiating. 😊)

What I do know is this: my heart has grown in ways I didn't know were possible.

Thank you to everyone who has given me the grace to step away for a little while. Mountain Aid Project has always been about caring for people—and sometimes that means remembering to care for your own family, too.

Welcome to the world, Willow Jay. You are already deeply loved, by generations behind you and an entire community cheering you on. 💚

Enjoying every moment,
Kristin McKinnon Watson

What can I be called as a new Grandma? Share your ideas!

We have a new addition to the Watson family, the Mountain Aid Project, and the community! Let’s welcome new baby Watson due at the end of this month on June 28th! 🩷

Sis, a previous member of Mountain Aid project, is also having a baby this Thursday! 💙 We could not be more excited to welcome new little lives into our hearts 💕

With this exciting announcement, I am sharing that I will be taking two weeks off to be with family once my granddaughter gets here! Don't worry, the team and Sheila Watson Christenbury have The Tilted Map handled, folks at Burke Long-Term Recovery Group , and peeps won't even know I'm gone ☺️

Much Love,
Kristin Watson
