We are a Youth Organization that focuses on encouraging teens to make their voices heard by advocating, creating awareness, and taking action on the issues that are important to them!

The State of Youth, run by Malik Harris, has operated in Morganton for 3 years. Founded in 2020 the purpose of the organization is to get youth involved in our community and overall help the people of Morganton.

In the past couple of years, the State of Youth has had clothes drives, food drives, trash cleanups, health drives, and even a vaccine clinic at the height of the pandemic.

After a long time of service to the community, BCSOY held its first “Empowering Youth Banquet” on June 6. At the end of the event, Malik announced that Burke County State of Youth was to be dissolved and would now be rebranded as “Inspiring Youth.”

Our first banquet was a success!
To be able to honor and celebrate the success of those who have helped our youth as well as youth leaders was nothing short of amazing ! Thank you to everyone who came out to help celebrate with us !

Burke County State of Youth is hosting a winter clothing drive today through Dec. 16 at W. A. Young, Oak Hill, Hillcrest, Table Rock and Freedom. Pants, shirts, coats, blankets, socks, gloves, hats and scarves can be donated.
