IMPORTANT UPDATE ABOUT THE ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROGRAM AND HUMANITARIAN CONNECTION

Dear Friends, Family, and Folks of Western NC and Beyond,

After dedicating a month of my personal resources—money, time, and energy—to founding Humanitarian Connection and launching the Adopt a Family program, I find myself feeling exhausted.

While I’ve navigated the necessary steps to establish a non-profit, including registering with the state, incorporating, creating a website, and applying for 501(c)(3) status, I continue to face significant skepticism. Despite this, I have witnessed incredible support from many organizations and individuals, and I am proud that our program has successfully helped numerous families in need.

I am committed to completing the matching process for sponsors and recipients, ensuring that all relationships are properly supported. However, I have decided to dissolve Humanitarian Connection afterward. My experience has shown me that while I have fulfilled my calling in this endeavor, the ongoing scrutiny has made it increasingly challenging to continue.

Thank you for your support throughout this journey. It has been rewarding and insightful, and I am grateful for the opportunity to assist those in need.

All donors and recipients will receive correspondence about their matches (please check spam folders). Donors who do not receive a family will also be informed and directed to other charitable opportunities.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers and supporters who helped promote the Adopt a Family program, accepted deliveries, sorted supplies, scouted the region, and worked behind the scenes with spreadsheets, etc. Your efforts have made a meaningful difference.

BIG NEWS! October 30

October 31st update: We have received $1,400 of donations so far for this project. Total cost is $1906.56. We need another $500 to get us there. Thank you!

Excited to announce that we have someone who wants to cover Have the cost of these excavator tooth. Who wants to match it? Let's get these folks in Green Mountain Toe River back on the road!

Volunteers who have been working tirelessly for weeks to repair roads in the Green Mountain Toe River area need these excavator teeth. Let me know if you have resources relevant to this need. Your support of the relief efforts in Western North Carolina are greatly appreciated by all! These people do not take our help for granted. They are grateful, humble, and hard working folks. Let's find a way to get these excavator tracks!

Humanitarian Connection is meeting with a team of people who are working to provide temporary housing for displaced residents of Western, North Carolina.

I was truly inspired when I met the gentleman who filmed this remarkable event. Despite the trauma of fearing for his life and losing all his possessions, Ben has been tirelessly dedicated to helping others since the disaster struck.

When I suggested he join our adoptive family program, he hesitated, saying, "But I'm just a middle-aged man. I don't think anyone would want to adopt me."

I took the time to explain that our program is open to anyone in need of support as they rebuild their lives after Hurricane Helene. You don’t have to fit a specific mold—whether you’re a family of four or an individual, we’re here to walk alongside anyone facing challenges. We aim to connect people with those who can offer services, moral support, supplies, and more.

We all experience moments in our lives when we need help, just as there are times when we can extend a helping hand to others. I am grateful for the support I’ve received during my own difficult times, which is why I’m passionate about offering this program. Seeking assistance doesn’t make you a charity case; it simply reflects your humanity and the reality of facing tough circumstances. This initiative isn’t about comparing who is better or worse—it's about fostering a community of support where giving and receiving help is a shared experience.

If the idea of having someone to accompany you through your challenges resonates with you, I encourage you to consider our Adopt A Family program. While there are no guarantees, it may provide the support you need to navigate this journey.

Super excited that we finally have a large group of professional (bonded) volunteers to help process our Adopt A Family registrations.

We are continuing to take registrations for donors and recipients. FAMILIES WHO ARE FACING CHALLENGES AS A RESULT OF HURRICANE HELENE CAN SUBMIT REGISTRATIONS to receive support from a donor family.

Thank you for registering to sponsor a family or to be adopted through Humanitarian Connection's Adopt-A-Family program in support of those affected by Hurricane Helene. We are truly honored by your participation.

We have received an overwhelming number of submissions, and our goal is to assist as many families as possible. Our team is diligently working to match sponsors with families in need, and we appreciate your patience during this process. We understand that waiting can be challenging, especially if you haven't heard from us yet.

We are eager to connect with each of you as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that we are a small organization, but we are fully committed to supporting every family and individual who has reached out through this program.

Hey Folks,

Our Adopt-A-Family program is gaining traction. We have 51 donor families so far and 10 recipient families. If you know of families who may need this program, you can fill out the form for them, as long as they agree to it. Some families who need the program might not have the means to find out about it or the technology available to pursue it. Details and submission forms can be found at humanitarianconnection.com

I'm feeling very emotional at the submissions for the Adopt a Family Program through Humanitarian Connection. So many people want to support families negatively affected by Hurricane Helene.
