Burke United Christian Ministries Since 1975 Burke United Christian Ministries has been an intergral part of our community. Giving a hand up whenever possible is our purpose.

The mission of Burke United Christian Ministries is to restore resilience in people living in poverty or experiencing homelessness ensuring their essential needs are met. Feeding every person walking into the Soup Kitchen a nutritious meal, listening to our neighbors' stories, sharing hospitality, counseling in times of crisis, assisting families in crisis with food, clothing and financial assista

nce. We assist those in danger of experiencing homelessness through emergency funds for utilities and rent. We accomplish our purpose with Christ at the forefront of all we do. Through Christian love, fellowship, and works, we bring our community together in realizing the Gospel daily.

Calling all Parents!

Are you or your child in need of a hot meal while school is out for the summer? The Soup Kitchen is open five days a week for lunch. It is open to everyone and totally free to you!

The Kitchen is open Monday through Friday from 11am to 12:30pm.

Thank you Rising Youth!

This morning members of the Rising Youth group, a combination of Freedom and Patton students, came in to work in the Warehouse. They helped to sort through produce boxes and bagged it for use in the food pantry. Even running carts in the food pantry in the pouring rain! Thank you for volunteering with us!

Volunteering at BUCM can be used to go towards service hours needed for a school organization, such as Rising Youth or Anchor Club. If you know of a student that might be interested in getting service hours over the summer, please visit bucm.net/volunteer or call 828-433-8075 ext 221 for more details.

We are in need of volunteers for the summer!
Becoming a BUCM volunteer is a great way to get out in the community and give back to these in need. It is also a great way to earn service hours for Honor's societies and school organizations! Volunteers must be at least 16.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

Did you know that almost 20% of Burke County residents say that they have "fair or poor" mental health? The national average ranges between 22% and 24% of all Americans.

Mental Health is often not something that you can see, and you may never know what someone else is going through. This month is a chance to help break the stigma around Mental Health.

We are closed today for all services, including lunch. We will resume normal operating hours tomorrow, May 26th.
