Family-centered practice starts with recognizing the strengths and expertise of caregivers.

When practitioners respect a family’s knowledge and build on what they already do well, it creates a foundation of trust, confidence, and meaningful collaboration. This approach empowers caregivers to take an active role in supporting their child’s development.

Check out this infographic for practical ways practitioners can apply family-centered principles in everyday interactions.

Prompting Caregivers in Early Intervention

Prompting is a key coaching strategy that supports caregivers while they practice strategies during real-life activities. It helps them build confidence, reinforce skills they’ve learned, and guide their child’s participation in everyday routines. The 5-step approach ensures caregivers get timely support while leading the activity themselves.
