What makes Dane County a place where businesses, talent and new ideas can thrive — and how do we keep that momentum going?

We’re looking forward to hearing from Jason Scott, Regional Economic Development Director with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), at our
What’s New Dane County? Partners’ Roundtable Breakfast.

WEDC works with businesses and communities across Wisconsin to help turn ideas and opportunities into growth, providing resources, technical support and financial assistance while collaborating with more than 600 partners statewide.

And there’s a lot happening right here in South Central Wisconsin. Our region is home to a growing tech sector, a nationally recognized biohealth hub, UW–Madison, a highly educated workforce and a mix of industries and communities that continue to attract businesses and talent.

The 43rd Annual Monona Chili Cook-Off is just 4 weeks away, and we need YOU to join the competition!

We’re looking for more cook teams to bring their best chili, biggest creativity, and boldest team themes to Ahuska Park on September 26.

Here’s what being a chili cook is all about:

🎪 Decorate your tent and create a team theme

🌶️ Never entered a chili competition before? Neither had these guys.

In 2023, Lifecity Chiropractic entered the Monona Chili Cook-Off after making chili for the first time ever.

Their aprons even said: “Don’t worry, I can do this. I watched a YouTube.” 😂

They won First Place. And several hundred dollars. 🏆

So if you've been thinking you need to be a chili expert to enter the 43rd Annual Monona Chili Cook-Off...you definitely don't.

Grab some friends, family or coworkers, find a recipe (YouTube apparently works 😉), come up with a team name and give it a shot!

🎤 Meet the Speakers: Dane County Executive Melissa Agard

What’s new in Dane County? Who better to ask than the person leading Wisconsin’s second-largest county?

Join us at What's New Dane County? – Partners' Roundtable Breakfast on September 17 to hear from Dane County Executive Melissa Agard.

A Madison native and UW–Madison graduate, Melissa brings years of local and state government experience to the role, including service on the Dane County Board and in both the Wisconsin State Assembly and State Senate. She was elected Dane County Executive in November 2024 and now serves a county of approximately 600,000 residents.

With Dane County continuing to experience significant population and job growth, we’re looking forward to hearing her perspective on what’s happening now — and what’s ahead for our communities and businesses.

It was inspiring to see so many community members, supporters, elected officials, and partner organizations come together to celebrate this milestone and the remarkable impact GiGi's Playhouse continues to make for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

As a valued MESBA member, we're proud to celebrate this exciting new chapter with Kelly Antonson and the entire GiGi's Playhouse Madison team. Their vision, determination, and unwavering commitment have created a welcoming space where individuals can learn, grow, build confidence, and truly belong.

Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement! We can't wait to see the lives that will be touched in this amazing new space for years to come.
