Swiss American Historical Society The Swiss American Historical Society (SAHS) was founded in Chicago in 1927. We do this through publications & outreach. OFFICERS:

It was established to promote the study of the Swiss in America, Swiss-American relations, and Swiss immigration to the United States. The SAHS encourages American interest in Swiss history and culture, unites those involved in genealogical research, and serves as a link between Swiss Americans, Swiss, and Americans in fostering cultural awareness and mutual understanding. Chapters of the Society

France may be home to the tallest peak in the Alps (Mont Blanc), but it’s Switzerland’s Alps that are the high point for most travelers. The majestic snowcapped summits, waterfall-laced cliffs and picturesque lakes are accompanied by hiker-friendly amenities — well-marked trails, restful mountain huts, and a system of lifts and trains that lets you effortlessly ascend to dramatic mountaintops. As famously great engineers, as well as ardent nature lovers, the Swiss know how to make Alpine thrills accessible to almost everyone, regardless of stamina or skills.

The mountain range spans 750 miles and eight countries, offering a variety of experiences.

Around 100 years ago, a Swedish heiress secured the inheritance of the von Hallwyl family, into which she had married in 1865. The National Museum Zurich is part of that story.
