Longtime Modesto Library staffer Brian Lillie was honored recently with a going away party to celebrate his retirement. In attendance were Friends of the Modesto Library board members Isa Wiechmann and Anne Britton who presented Brian with a special gift. “Mr. Brian” as he is known by his small patrons, worked for various Stanislaus County Library branches for well over 30 years. Brian says he is looking forward to time for work on home projects – with no deadline pressure! He is also FOML’s newest member!

It’s been almost 2 years since the Modesto Library closed for renovation but the wait is almost over! Soon, library staffers will begin moving the 200,000+ collection of books and other materials back from Salida in anticipation of the October reopening. There will be lots of ways for YOU to get involved including planning and staffing events surrounding the opening. We’ll also be recruiting FOML volunteers to lead tours of the new library.
