Your courage, dedication, and sacrifice help keep our communities and our country safe. There’s only one difference between us and them: Coasties use our crayons for their intended purpose, not as snacks.

🇺🇸🌎⚓ **Marine Forces Reserve Birthday – August 29** ⚓🌎🇺🇸

Today, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Alabama proudly celebrates the **Birthday of the United States Marine Forces Reserve** and honors the dedicated Marines who have faithfully answered the call to serve our nation.

Established on **August 29, 1916**, the Marine Forces Reserve has stood ready for more than a century to reinforce and support the active-duty Marine Corps whenever and wherever needed. From World War I and World War II to Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan, and humanitarian missions around the globe, Reserve Marines have demonstrated that they are always prepared to answer our nation's call.

Balancing civilian careers, families, education, and military service, these Citizen-Marines embody the Marine Corps values of **Honor, Courage, and Commitment**. Their readiness ensures that our nation has a highly trained force capable of responding at a moment's notice.

Today, we extend our gratitude to every Marine who has served or is currently serving in the Marine Forces Reserve. Your dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment strengthen our Corps and our country.
