Meet Mobtown Mural Festival’s Featured Artist Hannah Legg!

We’re kicking off our Mobtown Mural Festival artist spotlights with someone very special, local muralist, illustrator, designer, and Mobile Arts Council Member Artist Hannah Legg!

Hannah is the creative mind who first approached Mobile Arts Council with the idea for a mural festival right here in Mobile. After participating in mural festivals like the Cubed event at Pensacola’s Foo Foo Festival, Hannah found herself wondering: Why don’t we have something like this in Mobile?

With so much incredible artistic talent in our community, we couldn’t agree more!

What started as Hannah’s big idea quickly became a shared vision. Mobile Arts Council got to work building portable murals, securing partners, permits, and locations to bring public art to the streets of Mobile, free for everyone to experience.

We are incredibly grateful to Hannah for bringing this idea to us and helping ignite what we hope will become an annual celebration of large-scale art on the Bay!

About Hannah Legg

Hannah Legg is a talented muralist, illustrator, and designer whose vibrant, nature-inspired work can be found throughout Fairhope, Foley, Mobile, and Spanish Fort.

Born in England and raised in Fairhope, Hannah developed her love of art alongside competitive swimming before earning her BFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. After graduating in 2016, she returned to Baldwin County and explored a variety of creative roles, including freelance graphic design, illustration, and marketing design.

Eventually, Hannah found her way to mural painting, a medium that perfectly combines her love of physical activity, creativity, and community engagement.

Her murals are known for bold colors, flowing organic lines, and imagery inspired by the natural beauty of the Gulf Coast. Through her work, Hannah transforms ordinary walls into bright, engaging spaces that invite the community to stop, look, and connect.

When she’s not painting, Hannah enjoys camping, Dungeons & Dragons, Mel Brooks movies, and spending time with her husband, Jesse, and their pets.

We can’t wait to watch Hannah’s vision, and the vision of all our incredible participating artists, come to life during the inaugural Mobtown Mural Festival, September 12–13 from 10am-5pm!

Talk about a dream come true last night!

We are so thankful to our friends at the Mobile Museum of Art for inviting the Mobile Arts Council team to be part of the celebration of this incredible exhibition and accomplishment.

Gateway is a stunning showcase of contemporary art and a monumental moment for Mobile. Congratulations to everyone involved on an amazing and well-deserved accomplishment. You are all rock stars!

Do not miss your chance to experience works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Kenny Scharf, Keith Haring, KAWS, and Banksy for yourself. Gateway will be on exhibition at the Mobile Museum of Art for the next year, so you’ll definitely want to visit more than once.

Thank you for bringing these incredible works to our city and giving our community the opportunity to experience them right here in Mobile. An impressive 400 people showed up to celebrate last night, and what a night it was.

MobTown Mural Festival is coming to downtown Mobile!

Mobile Arts Council is thrilled to announce the artists selected for the inaugural MobTown Mural Festival, presented by Downtown Mobile Alliance. Join us September 12–13, 2026, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. for a free weekend celebrating public art, local artists, and Mobile’s creative community.

This two-day festival will feature 10 artists, three full-scale mural sites, and five live-painted 4’ x 4’ art cubes.

Watch artists transform downtown Mobile with murals at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf, Cedar Street Social Club, and Innovation Portal. Then, head to Cooper Riverside Park to see five marine-grade art cubes painted live. The completed cubes will become new pieces of public art for Mobile’s parks and public spaces.

Help us congratulate our selected artists: Hannah Legg, Artist, Gary Brady, JD Swiger, Apollo YaKongo Art, Jenyes, Rachel Schwemin, Brian Tan, David Rojas Pacheco, Greg Crimmins, and Christy LeGros’ Barton Academy for Advanced World Studies Art Class students.

These artists were selected from more than 65 applications and will bring their unique perspectives and Gulf Coast-inspired creativity to the streets of Mobile.

Come watch Mobile’s artists create, paint, and transform our city one stroke at a time.

Calling All Artists!
Mobile Arts Council + Spring Hill College invite local artists to join us for our second session of a new monthly open studio in the beautiful Murphy Fine Arts Building on the Spring Hill College campus.
Join artist Elsa Payton on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. for an afternoon of creativity, community, and artistic exploration.
Free to attend – no registration required, just drop-in!
Suggested donation: $5 (or more) to support this growing partnership.
Bring:
Your own drawing or painting supplies and surfaces (easels provided)
A snack to share (optional)
Whether you're a seasoned artist or just looking for dedicated studio time, this is a welcoming space to practice, learn, collaborate, and connect with fellow creatives.

Invest in yourself, your work, and your impact through the Spring Hill College Artist Residency Program, presented in partnership with the Mobile Arts Council and Spring Hill College.

Applications are closing soon for this unique 12-month residency designed to give artists the space, resources, and opportunities to grow their practice and connect with the community.

The selected artist will receive:

- 24-hour access to a private studio space in the Murphy Fine Arts Building
- Dedicated time and space to develop and expand a new body of work
- Opportunities to lead paid workshops and share your skills with the community
- Professional promotion through Mobile Arts Council’s website, social media, press releases, and local media opportunities
- The opportunity to culminate your residency with a one-month solo exhibition in Eichold Gallery at Spring Hill College

Residency Details:
12-month residency
Private studio approximately 20.5' x 22.5'
Studio fee: $250/month
Location: Murphy Fine Arts Building, 2nd Floor

Congratulations to Sabah Siddiqui, our August Artist Member of the Month!

Sabah shares her world through the traditional art of henna, also known as mehndi. Through her work, she creates beautiful, hand drawn designs while sharing the rich cultural traditions and stories behind this centuries old art form.

Sabah’s mission is to educate and serve her community by celebrating cultural differences through traditional Desi designs. Her cultural background reflects traditions from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Persia, where henna is used as an adornment for weddings, religious celebrations, and cultural festivities.

Her love of henna began during her childhood in Saudi Arabia, where she enjoyed creating and experiencing henna with her family. After moving to America at age 11, she eventually rediscovered the art while learning more about her personal cultural heritage in college and quickly fell back in love with it.

Today, henna has become a way for Sabah to connect with her own heritage, explore cultures around the world, and introduce others to this beautiful and meaningful art form. She especially values the conversations and connections that happen while creating henna at festivals and community events.

Sabah is a familiar face at our monthly LoDa ArtWalks, where she shares her art and culture with our community. We are so grateful for the creativity, knowledge, and cultural connection she brings to Mobile’s arts community.

ArtWalk & Member Appreciation Night were a blast!

Mobile Arts Council is incredibly grateful to all of our partners, supporters, artists, volunteers, and members who helped make our 5th Annual Members’ Appreciation Night such a memorable celebration!

A huge thank you to Greer’s St. Louis Market for providing the delicious eats, The Bassment Band for keeping the vibes going all night, our friends at the Exploreum for sharing friends, Flowers of the Bay and The Lotus Belly Dancers for sharing their incredible performances, and Miss Jess Face & Body Painting for adding a little extra fun to the evening.

We also want to give a special shoutout to all of our amazing volunteers who helped make the vendor market, linocut print station, and everything in between run smoothly. We truly couldn’t do it without you!

Most of all, thank you to our MAC members and the entire Mobile community for continuing to show up, support local artists, and celebrate the arts with us. We are so proud to serve this incredible community and y’all make it easy!

Thank you for making another ArtWalk one to remember. We can’t wait to do it all again! ❤️

Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 Mobile Arts Council Annual Members' Show!

This year's exhibition celebrates the incredible talent and creativity of more than 80 artists from across the Mobile Bay area. Thank you to everyone who submitted work, attended the exhibition, and helped make this year's Members' Show such a success.

The Mobile Arts Council is grateful to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and Brenda Litchfield for their generous support, which makes these awards possible.

This year's exhibition was juried by Kayla Dean, Administrative Specialist, and Lindsey Lawrence, Community Outreach Manager, of the Eastern Shore Art Center.
