As Yom Kippur begins, the Mobile Area Jewish Federation wishes our entire community a meaningful and reflective Day of Atonement.
For generations, Yom Kippur has called the Jewish people to pause, to step away from the noise of everyday life, and turn inward. We reflect upon the year behind us, acknowledge where we have fallen short, seek forgiveness from one another and from G-d, and commit ourselves to doing better in the year ahead.
It is also a reminder of the strength of community.
We may pray in different congregations, come from different backgrounds, observe differently, and experience our Judaism in different ways, but we remain connected to one another as one Jewish community.
Here in Mobile, that connection matters.
As we enter 5787, may we continue building a community rooted in compassion, responsibility, kindness, and the ancient Jewish principle of Kol Yisrael arevim zeh bazeh, all of Israel is responsible for one another.
May this sacred day bring healing to those who are hurting, comfort to those who mourn, strength to those facing uncertainty, and peace to our community and to Jewish communities around the world.
From the Mobile Area Jewish Federation, we wish you and your families an easy and meaningful fast.
G’mar Chatimah Tovah, May you be sealed for a good year. ✡️
