This month’s Spotlight features Bethany Gilbert!

Bethany leads the operational ex*****on of NAMM Foundation initiatives including awards and scholarships, The NAMM Show, board of directors management and cross-functional collaboration internally and externally. Bethany has spent over 11 years at NAMM, progressing through roles spanning the Resource Center, Membership and Public Affairs and Government Relations. She is a Certified Nonprofit Professional through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and holds a master’s degree in nonprofit leadership and management from the University of San Diego and a bachelor’s degree in trumpet performance and music business from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam.

This week our Executive Director, Jeffrey Loeffert, and Director of Operations, Sarah Best, are in Washington D.C. for the NAMM Fly-In! They'll be working with over 100 delegates to advocate for federal funding of music education. They are excited to join NAMM in this effort sharing knowledge with members of Congress on how arts-in-education funding directly impacts constituents and are proud to represent CMS as delegates at this national gathering!

This month’s Spotlight features Dr. Jane Palmquist!

Jane Palmquist joined the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music faculty in 1998, where she has led music education initiatives and taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses. A specialist in string teacher education and music in general studies, she regularly presents her research at national conferences. Her recent work includes a book on teaching strings in the 21st century and an open educational resource for general music instruction. She currently serves on the CMS Board as the Member for the Council on Music in General Studies.
