You’re invited! The volunteers behind the Dublin 2029 Worldcon bid get together on the second Monday of every month. Our next session is coming up on Monday 12th October! We'd love to meet anyone else from the wider Dublin SFF community and anyone passing through on the day 💙

Whether you're a volunteer working on the bid, or it's your first time meeting us, you'll be made very welcome. We have booked a table in Tapped on Nassau Street, from 6pm until at least 8pm, so drop in whenever suits you.

We meet up to chat about the bid, SFF culture, gaming, and whatever comes up. Come by for a drink - we'd love to see you there!

A little Dublin slang for you: yo-yos. That's what we call euros, as in, “A head of cabbage will set you back 2 or 3 yo-yos.”

Why are we telling you this? Putting together a Worldcon bid costs money! Our Dublin 2029 bid is looking for a little financial support from those in the wider SFF community who have the means to help!

Your donations help us to run our fantables - like the one Philippa is sat at here - put on our parties and sponsor events at other conventions, and as an added bonus for you buying a pre-support now will become an attending supplement and is the cheapest way to get your convention membership!

Dublin 2029 has secured a Fan Table at Octocon, but we need your help! We’re looking for volunteers who are interested in doing a shift at the table.

While most people in Ireland, especially in Dublin, speak English, the first national language is actually Irish! It’s probably very different from any languages you’re familiar with because it doesn’t descend from any Germanic, Romance or Slavic languages and can have some scary looking spellings - there’s not many languages where ‘mh’ and ‘bh’ are pronounced ‘v’, or ‘d’fh’ is used to express the past tense for a verb beginning with f!

To kick-off our introduction we’re starting strong with Éire (pronounced AIR-eh), meaning Ireland 🇮🇪
