These communities will be celebrating America's 250th anniversary through books.
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read, in partnership with Arts Midwest, brings communities together to read a book and discuss it.
The program inspires meaningful conversations, celebrates local creativity, elevates a wide variety of voices and perspectives, and builds stronger connections in each community.
Today, we're excited to announce a total of $1,089,03 in grant funding for 71 nonprofit organizations for NEA Big Read programming in 2026-2027.
This year, communities will read books from the NEA Big Read Library honoring 250 years of the American story by celebrating the country’s culture, history, and resilience through the eyes of its citizens.
Congratulations to all the grantees!
