Can’t wait until September 22 to see Dan Chouinard ? You don’t have to!

Dan has a few opportunities coming up to catch him around the Twin Cities:

**August 24 | 7 PM | Crooners in Fridley**
“The Singer’s Voice” brings conversation around the piano together with stories about life, music, childhood, family influences, favorite artists, first performances, travels, trials and triumphs. Dan will be joined by guest singer Patty Peterson.

**August 27 | 7 PM | Waldmann Brewery in St. Paul**
Dan heads to the Biergarten for an evening of Celtic, French and Italian tunes on accordion, joined by Laura MacKenzie on whistles and bagpipes and Gary Rue on guitar.

And then, of course…

**September 22 | The Stories That Remain**
Dan joins us at Rakhma’s annual fundraiser at Forgotten Star Brewing Co. for an evening of storytelling, memory and connection.

Last year, we gathered. We laughed. We listened. We connected.

And this September, we get to do it again.

On September 22, Rakhma Homes invites you to **The Stories That Remain**, an evening built around something that connects all of us: the stories we carry.

Join us at Forgotten Star Brewing for live storytelling, music, humor, and reflection featuring podcast host Jonathan Goldstein, Kevin Kling , Dan Chouinard , and storytellers from the Rakhma community.**

But this evening is about more than what happens on stage.

It’s about gathering as a community. It’s about remembering the people and experiences that have shaped us. And it’s about supporting Rakhma Homes so we can continue providing compassionate, relationship-centered memory care to people regardless of their financial means.

Storyteller Spotlight: Kevin Kling

We’re thrilled to welcome Kevin Kling back to the stage for Rakhma’s annual fundraiser, The Stories That Remain, on September 22.

Kevin has an incredible way of finding humor, meaning, and connection in the stories we carry with us—making him a perfect voice for an evening exploring aging, memory, and the experiences that shape who we are.

In memory care, we spend a lot of time listening to stories, often playing detective to understand how those stories bring meaning to someone’s life.

But we’ve also learned that “Is this story accurate?” is rarely the most important question.

Often, “Why does this story matter to this person?” is much more revealing.

That’s part of what we love about the Heavyweight podcast. Host and creator Jonathan Goldstein has a talent for taking memories, sometimes funny and sometimes painful, and following them to see what they reveal about the people who carry them.

One of our favorite episodes, “Rob,” begins with a simple disagreement: Rob remembers breaking his arm as a kid and his family is equally certain that he didn’t. Jonathan sets out to figure out what actually happened, resulting in a funny and moving episode that ultimately reveals more about the family than whether Rob broke his arm.

We won’t spoil the ending, but it’s a great introduction to Heavyweight and to the kind of storytelling that made us so excited to have Jonathan join us for The Stories That Remain storytelling fundraiser on September 22!

Summer always seems to fly by a little too fast. ☀️💛

Over the past few weeks, we've made the most of every sunny day, sharing laughs, making memories, and enjoying the simple joys of the season. One of our favorite adventures? A fishing outing where several of our residents proudly caught fish! 🎣

Moments like these remind us that it's never about how big the adventure is, it's about the smiles, the stories, and the time spent together.

As summer begins to wind down, we're soaking up every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and create meaningful moments with the wonderful people who call Rakhma home. ❤️

Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Rakhma!

Today, we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy and honor the generations of brave men and women who have served our country with courage, sacrifice, and dedication.

We are deeply grateful to all who have worn our nation's uniform, as well as the families who have stood beside them through every challenge. Your service and commitment have helped preserve the freedoms we cherish today.

As we gather with family, friends, and neighbors, may we also take a moment to reflect on the values that bring us together—freedom, compassion, community, and hope.

💛 Celebrating a Lifetime of Love at Rakhma Joy Home 💛

There is something truly special about celebrating the milestones that make life so meaningful.

This week, we had the honor of celebrating the 59th wedding anniversary of our newest resident Byron and his beloved wife Rachel at Rakhma’s Joy home. Surrounded by flowers, cake, sparkling cider, and smiles, we raised a toast to nearly six decades of love, commitment, and cherished memories.

Moments like these remind us that home is more than a place, it's where stories are celebrated, relationships are honored, and every resident is embraced like family.

Happy 59th Wedding Anniversary! ❤️ Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of such a beautiful chapter in your journey together.

Here's to many more moments of love, laughter, and celebration.

Last week, we celebrated the retirement of our incredible Director of Health Services, Jeannette, RN, after more than five and a half years of dedicated service to Rakhma.

Throughout her time with us, Jeannette has been a compassionate advocate, trusted leader, and steady source of support for residents, families, and staff alike. From helping guide Rakhma through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic to championing dignity, inclusion, and person-centered care, her impact has been immeasurable.

Jeannette has always seen the person behind the diagnosis, approaching every decision with kindness, creativity, and a deep commitment to quality of life. Her wisdom, compassion, and unwavering dedication have helped shape Rakhma into the organization it is today.

While we are saddened to see her retire, we are incredibly grateful for the lasting legacy she leaves behind. Please join us in thanking Jeannette for her years of service and wishing her joy, relaxation, and many blessings in this next chapter.

Congratulations, Jeannette! You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. 💙
