Going Vegan is extremely rewarding for so many reasons but can definitely be challenging at first. A new vegan may find themselves overwhelmed by situations where they need a little guidance. Maybe you've thought about going Vegan but have so many questions; How and what do I order in a restaurant?, What's this B12 stuff all about?, How do I tell my family and what kinds of resources can I share w

ith them so they will support my decision?, What are some courteous ways to stand up to a rude co-worker?, I keep hearing about refined white sugar, why should I care?, What more can I do to help animals?, etc. The Animal Rights Coalition is proud to announce our newest program: Vegan University. Vegan U hosts workshops, discussion focus groups, vegan grocery shopping tours, and a vegan mentor program. Fun Facts! This is NOT a steak from an animal. It's a plant-based steak!

• Diets centered on whole plant foods are linked to lower risks of heart disease—the leading cause of death in the U.S.

• Many people see improvements in blood sugar control, making plant-based eating a helpful tool for managing (and sometimes preventing) type 2 diabetes

• Plant-based diets are typically higher in fiber, which supports digestion, gut health, and long-lasting fullness

• Producing plant foods generally uses fewer natural resources and results in lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to animal agriculture

• A well-planned vegan diet can provide all the essential nutrients you need at every stage of life

Veganism is about the animals—but it’s pretty powerful that the same choices can support personal and planetary health too.

World Baking Day - Veganized!

You do not need eggs to bake. Here's a handy cheat sheet to make it easier. What we love about this chart is that it explains when you'd want to use an alternative to eggs.

Going vegan—and staying vegan—starts with one thing: the animals 🐾
And we can help!

If you’re looking to build a deeper, lasting connection, here are a few ways to keep that purpose front and center:

• Visit farmed animal sanctuaries and spend time with the individuals you’re choosing to stand up for. The Animal Rights Coalition schedules monthly visits to Farmaste for volunteers who want to help the animal residents by cleaning the barns and other special projects. You can also connect with sanctuaries by following them on social media. Consider sponsoring an individual!

• Connect with others—community makes this a lot more sustainable and a lot more meaningful. ARC has a vibrant Animal Rights/Vegan Meetup group:
https://www.meetup.com/vegan-415/

• Join grocery store tours and sign up for the zoom workshops to make everyday choices easier. Check out the ARC newsletter for up-to-date info on events:
https://signup.e2ma.net/signup/39949/23220/?v=a

• Sign up for a free vegan mentor through Vegan University:
https://animalrightscoalition.com/vegan-university/mentors/

• Keep learning through books, events, and conversations -
Let us know if you have any questions or need resources!

• Get involved locally—there are always ways to show up for animals

The more you connect with the “why,” the easier the “how” becomes.
