We had a great time at our 3rd annual Community Carnival last week! More than 350 neighbors joined us, and 150+ backpacks from Greater Twin Cities United Way were distributed to families in our community!

Alena recently stepped into a new role as Development Associate after beginning her TCR journey as our Executive Assistant. We asked her to reflect on what inspires her about TCR and the work she gets to do.

𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑟𝑒𝑠 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑇𝐶𝑅'𝑠 𝑚𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛?

"From the interview process alone, I felt inspired by TCR's mission and leadership. I remember leaving my interview thinking, "even if I don't get the job, I hope to work at a place like this one day." People deserve the chance to turn a new leaf, and even more so they need to believe it's something they are innately worthy of. It's difficult to walk down a new path, especially when your self-worth has been beaten down to nonexistence. TCR helps the community recognize that forging a better path for themselves begins with believing they are worthy and capable of doing so. "I am loveable, I am important, I am valuable and I am empowered" is something that the employees live and breathe to make sure R!SERs do the same. I feel so inspired by this mission as it's something I truly believe in, and from just the interview process alone, I knew the staff working at TCR live and breathe that mission too."

"I've just started my role as Development Associate after working as the Executive Assistant for less than a year. While I haven't had the chance to fully embrace the new role, I'm extremely excited and thankful for the growth opportunity as I learn more about nonprofits and the work done. TCR has been a great place to begin my nonprofit journey, as it has taught me not only about what a great place to work looks like, but also exposed me to life-changing work that is done every day!"
