This past weekend, ABEP and ARISE were out in the community at The Black Market—connecting with local businesses, meeting entrepreneurs, and, of course, enjoying some amazing food!

🍪 Allen Family Creations — that banana pudding cookie, chef's kiss!
🥤 Minne Tea — refreshing drinks that definitely hit the spot.
🍽️ High Society Eats — we had a chance to dine, connect, and enjoy some great food.

And these were just a few of the many businesses and entrepreneurs we had the opportunity to connect with throughout the day.

For us, showing up matters. Supporting local businesses matters. Building relationships matters.

ARISE CCU is Black-led, open to all, and invested in our community. We don't just talk about supporting the community—we want to be there, spend there, partner there, and grow there... together.

We put our money where our community is.

Thank you to Devina Moore and the Children's Defense Fund–SPPS Freedom Schools team for inviting ABEP and Arise Community Credit Union to participate in this year's SPPS Freedom Schools Health & Wellness Fair!

It was a pleasure connecting with families, meeting fellow community organizations, and sharing resources that support financial well-being.

We're also grateful for the chance to reconnect with Tina Jones, AVP of Financial Empowerment at Blaze Credit Union. One year ago, history was made.

As we celebrate Juneteenth and the continued pursuit of economic freedom, we're also celebrating a milestone that reflects what community vision, persistence, and leadership can accomplish.

Today marks one year since Arise Community Credit Union opened digitally to the public.

What began as a bold vision became reality through the leadership of Debra L. Hurston, Executive Director of the Association for Black Economic Power (ABEP), and the collective efforts of countless supporters, partners, volunteers, and community members who believed that our community deserved greater access to financial opportunity.

Arise is more than a financial institution. It represents ownership, access, self determination, and the belief that our communities deserve financial systems designed to serve us.

In just one year, members have joined, deposits have been made, relationships have been built, and a foundation has been established for generations to come.

As we honor Juneteenth, we also celebrate this achievement and the leadership that helped bring it to life. Thank you, Debra, for your vision, determination, and commitment to creating lasting economic impact.
