Today INLUS launches their 2026 Photo Contest, "Wild Iceland Moments." Submissions are open beginning today (June 1) through July 3. Public voting will take place July 27 - August 3.

In 2016, on the precipice of turning 30, American writer Anne Marie Wells embarked on a quest to travel Iceland. Instead of following an itinerary, renting a car, and staying in hotels, she asked a random Icelandic worker at the Keflavik airport, “Can you tell me about a time you felt really happy in Iceland?”

Many of you will recall Hekla Club's our January 2026 meeting program featuring Dr. Connie Delaney. She returned to the University of Iceland this month to continue her collaboration there.

Connie W. Delaney, professor and dean of the Department of Nursing at the University of Minnesota and honorary doctorate at the University of Iceland, has established a grant fund at the University of Minnesota to support innovative collaboration in the field of health information technology between the Department of Nursing at the University of Minnesota and the Department of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Iceland. Delaney was recently in Iceland and introduced the fund to representatives of the University of Iceland.

Lögberg-Heimskringla´s writing contest deadline is fast approaching - only three days remaining!

There were several inquiries regarding the essay/poetry contest being conducted by the Logberg-Heimskringla newspaper.
