🐾 POISONING STREET DOGS IS NOT A SOLUTION. HERE'S WHY.
1. It doesn't work — and never has
Poisoning removes dogs temporarily. Within months, new dogs move into the same territory. Without sterilization, populations rebound quickly. TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) is the only method proven to actually reduce street dog populations over time. Cruelty for zero long-term result.
2. It's an agonizing death
Rat poison doesn't kill quickly. It causes internal bleeding, seizures, and organ failure — sometimes over days. These are gentle, sentient animals who feel pain exactly as your pet dog does. There is nothing humane or "efficient" about it. It is prolonged suffering.
3. It poisons the water supply
Poisoned carcasses leach toxins into the soil and groundwater. In areas with limited water infrastructure — like parts of Kosovo — this is a direct public health threat to the very communities these officials claim to be protecting.
4. It kills other animals
Rat poison doesn't discriminate. Birds of prey, cats, foxes, and other wildlife that scavenge or come into contact with a poisoned animal are killed too. The ecological damage ripples far beyond the intended target. Secondary poisoning wipes out entire links in the local food chain.
5. It endangers children and families
Poison bait left in streets, parks, and fields doesn't stay where it's placed. Children, family pets, and livestock are at risk. There have been cases worldwide of pet dogs and even children being harmed by improperly placed rodenticide. This is a public safety crisis disguised as a stray dog policy.
6. It poisons the community's soul
Societies are judged by how they treat their most vulnerable — including animals. Normalized cruelty toward street dogs desensitizes communities, particularly children, to suffering. Research consistently links animal cruelty to broader patterns of violence. This isn't just an animal welfare issue. It's a human one.
7. Humane alternatives are proven and available
TNR programs stabilize and reduce populations humanely
Vaccination campaigns protect both dogs and humans from rabies
Community sterilization clinics address the root cause
International rescue partnerships — like the work FAI does — rehome dogs abroad, reducing numbers while saving lives
and its cities like Mitroviche have access to these solutions. Choosing poison is a choice — not a necessity. We will not be silent while gentle animals are being systematically killed. Share this. Tag your representatives. Demand better. 🐾

🐾⚠️ TROVANJE PASA SE NASTAVLJA – A OPASNOST JE MNOGO VEĆA NEGO ŠTO NEKI MISLE ⚠️🐾
Dok se Nela i dalje nalazi na lečenju i bori sa teškim posledicama zbog kojih sumnjamo na trovanje, dobili smo informaciju da je u njenoj blizini pronađen još jedan otrovan pas.
Psa su pronašle žene koje svakodnevno brinu o napuštenim životinjama na toj lokaciji i koje najbolje znaju kakvo je stanje na terenu.
Ako je zaista u pitanju trovanje, onda ovo više ne može da se posmatra kao usamljen slučaj.
Ono što posebno zabrinjava jeste činjenica da se u neposrednoj blizini mesta gde su pronađeni psi svakodnevno kreću ljudi i igraju deca.
Da li oni koji ostavljaju otrov razmišljaju o posledicama?
Otrov ne ugrožava samo pse i mačke. On predstavlja opasnost za svakoga ko dođe u kontakt sa njim. Dovoljna je nepažnja, jedan dodir ili predmet podignut sa zemlje da posledice budu ozbiljne.
Trovanje životinja nije „rešavanje problema“. To je surovo, nehumano i opasno ponašanje koje ugrožava celu zajednicu.
Apelujemo na sve građane da budu oprezni i da obrate pažnju na svoje ljubimce, ali i na decu, kao i da prijave svaku sumnjivu pojavu ili slučaj trovanja.
Nela se i dalje bori za oporavak. Još jedan pas je pronađen otrovan.
Koliko će još životinja stradati pre nego što se ovome stane na kraj? 💔🐾
P.S. Razumemo bes i ogorčenost koje ovakve vesti izazivaju. I mi ih osećamo.
