Through a Chesterfield Education Foundation Innovation Grant, students at Ecoff Elementary School are building meaningful connections with senior citizens while learning lessons that can't be found in a textbook.
By engaging in conversations about history, current events, technology, and everyday life, students gain firsthand perspectives on pivotal moments like the Civil Rights Movement and the rise of technology. In return, they share their experiences, introducing seniors to today's culture, social media, and student life.
These intergenerational experiences strengthen reading, listening, communication, math, and motor skills while fostering empathy, understanding, and a deeper appreciation for one another.
This is what learning beyond the classroom looks like—and it's made possible through the support of our community. 💙

☕💙 Success is brewing at Deep Creek!
Through a CEF Innovation Grant, students at Deep Creek Middle School are running a school-based coffee cart business that is helping them build real-world skills every day.
From interviewing for jobs and managing inventory to taking orders, preparing coffee, and making deliveries, students are developing:
✨ Communication skills
✨ Social-emotional learning
✨ Workplace readiness
✨ Independence and confidence
✨ Reading, math, and daily living skills
This hands-on experience is creating opportunities for students to learn, grow, and thrive while making a positive impact in their school community.
