MEGA Mentors

The organization, since its inception has grown to over 300 volunteers supporting eight schools. We mentor and deliver life and social skills training.

Mission:
The mission of MEGA Mentors of Chesterfield County is to make a positive measurable difference in the lives of African American and other under-represented students in Chesterfield County Public Schools. Objectives:
• Provide group and/or one-on-one mentoring experiences
• Increase awareness of higher education and career opportunities for students and parents
• Teach the values of RESPE

CT, RESPONSIBILITY, EFFORT and ACHIEVEMENT to:
o Increase personal and scholastic achievement
o Decrease disciplinary incidents among African American students (detention and expulsions)
o Improve the graduation rate
• Engage parents as needed or as appropriate. Program:
Three High and three Middle schools currently participate in the program:
• Thomas Dale High School
• Meadowbrook High School
• Community High School
• Providence Middle School
• Falling Creek Middle School
• Carver Middle School
Elementary Schools (Volunteers are referred to Communities In Schools Organization)

• Membership: Over 100 male and female volunteers and growing
• Reach: Currently serving approximately 380 students, not including students at the elementary level.
